The biggest phone ever produces by Apple is the iPhone XS Max. It provides a big screen estate to buyer’s bringing it close to a phablet. The phone sport similar design with iPhone X which makes it an excellent competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 which is also similar to the Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphone. In this post, we will be comparing the iPhone XS Max with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 smartphone.

iPhone XS Max VS Samsung Galaxy Note 9 – Design & Display

Both iPhone XS Max and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 offers large screen display which is one of their selling points because you can’t find the same display on one of their models.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is equipped with a Super AMOLED display whose performance has already been praised by many. This phone creates a stunning screen and even Apple admit it.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 measures 6.4 inches display and offers a resolution of 1440×2960 pixels with an 18.5:9 ratio. The screen is protected by Corning gorilla glass 5.
Meanwhile, the iPhone XS Max comes with a 6.5-inch display, and it was launched with an OLED screen. It has a notch at the top of the screen which has been the latest trend whereas the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 comes without a notch.

The iPhone XS Max and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 comes with the most advanced camera available right now.  The Galaxy Note 9 has a dual camera configuration that uses a 12-megapixel sensor with f/1.5-2.4, 26mm, 1/2.55″, 1.4µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS features.  There is an additional 12-megapixel unit that features f/2.4, 52mm, 1/3.4″, 1µm, AF, OI and they both has 2x optical zoom.

Samsung also equipped the camera with an LED flash, auto HDR, and all kinds of other features like super slow-motion recording, which is quite an amazing for those that love video shooting. Apple launched the iPhone XS Max with a dual-camera system placed in a vertical position on the back, just like on the iPhone XS model.

Apple uses a combo shooter configuration with two 12-megapixel sensors, one of which also offers 2x optical zoom. The first 12MP offers f/1.8, 28mm, 1.4µm, OIS, 6-element lens, Focus Pixels, and the second 12MP setup has f/2.4, and 6-element lens OIS.

On the hardware, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is available in two different configurations.
You will either get configurations, being powered by either Samsung’s Exynos 9810 or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845. The chip on the inside has 6GB RAM, but a more special version that also features 512GB storage can be ordered with 8GB RAM.

There is also another variant with 128GB of storage which users can still expand with micro SD card. As for the Apple iPhone XS Max, the phone is powered by the latest A12 chip, which for the first time uses 4GB RAM. This set-up will help in software optimization and will also improve the camera. The iPhone XS Max has a bigger variant with 512GB of memory just like the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, bur without Micro SD card support.

There are some few exclusive features on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 which include the headphone jack and a fingerprint sensor. It also features facial recognition and iris scanners, but they aren’t as advanced as Apple’s. Where the iPhone XS Max beats, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is on the Face ID.

Here, Apple uses 3D sensing cameras for increased accuracy, and this second generation is said to be faster and more reliable. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging technology, while Apple says that the iPhone XS Max has been improved.

On the battery department, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has a massive battery capacity of 4000mAh with wireless charging technology and this juicer is enough to get you through the day easily, while Apple’s iPhone XS Max has a 3000mAh battery capacity which will last longer but can’t last more than the Note 9.

Our Verdict

Choosing the iPhone XS Max or the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 shouldn’t be confusing as it may seem on the first sight since both phones have a different operating system.
It’s a matter of choosing between iOS or Android.

On the overall, both phones are the latest and powerful device around, and they will give you the best performance you can ever imagine. Regarding hardware, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is the king with a superb display, massive battery capacity, an S-PEN with new capabilities and above all with edge-to-edge design, Face ID and impressive camera.

The iPhone XS Max, on the other hand, is equally a beast with improving camera features that offer an accurate Face ID and the latest chip is one that will wrestle with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, and the fight will take time to be won.
