Specs Review – LeEco Le Pro 3 With 4GB/6GB RAM, Snapdragon 821 Price in Nigeria, Kenya & Ghana

The LeEco Le Pro 3 is LeEco’s flagship smartphone of 2016, and from the specifications, it is rightly a flagship device. Before its launch, the smartphone was widely teased, especially the most outstanding of its features like the Snapdragon 821 processor, 16MP camera and 6GB RAM.

LeEco Le Pro 3

The LeEco Le Pro 3 was launched in China on the 21st of September and became available for sale from the 28th of September. Here’s what you need to know about it before ordering your unit.

LeEco Le Pro 3 Specifications

LeEco Le Pro 3 Launched in India

Display & Design

The LeEco Le Pro 3 Android phone crams in a 5.5-inch display which is covered with 2.5D curved glass. The display has a pixel resolution of 1920 * 1080 pixels (Full HD), has an NTSC colour gamut of 80% and maximum brightness level of 500 units.

The LeEco Le Pro 3 has a metal unibody design, and its edges are curved. The phone is 7.5mm thick and weighs 175 grammes.

Memory & Performance

Under the hood, the LeEco Le Pro 3 is powered by a 2.35GHz Snapdragon 821 processor with four processing cores (Quad-core). This is one of the major selling points of the device, because the Snapdragon 821 processor is one of the fastest processors in smartphones today, and is the fastest processor that has been used in Android smartphones (the only smartphone processors faster than the Snapdragon 821 are Apple’s A9 and A10 processors).

The new Le Pro 3 comes in 2 memory variants; the first variant has 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM capacity and 32GB of internal storage, while the second variant has 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Both variants use UFS 2.0 for faster data transfer and better flash storage performance.

It is important to note that the LeEco Le Pro 3 doesn’t have an external SD card slot, meaning you are stuck with the internal memory of the variant you purchase for life, unless you explore other memory expansion options like OTG connection with a flash drive, or you upgrade to a smartphone that has an SD card slot.

Battery

The LeEco Le Pro 3 packs a Lithium-Ion battery with a capacity of 4,050 mAh. The phone comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology to allow you boost the battery juice faster.

Connectivity

The LeEco Le Pro 3 carries a dual SIM slot through which the user can access super-fast 4G LTE networks with Voice over LTE (VoLTE) support. The phone comes with dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11ac MIMO for wireless connectivity and version 4.2 of the Bluetooth technology, which is about the latest you can find on a smartphone.

Other connectivity options on the Le Pro 3 include a USB Type-C port which gives the phone USB OTG support, GPS for navigation, and NFC.

One thing that is missing from its list of connectivity features is the 3.5mm jack, which suggests that Android phone manufacturers are already toeing the steps of Apple (this fast ?! 😮 ) which decided to leave out the audio jack in its 2016 flagship smartphones, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. For many like me, this is an ugly and undesirable trend, but if you’re observant enough of things happening in the tech world, you’d have realised by now that this happening is unavoidable; as the saying goes, Apple leads, others follow. When Apple brings out an innovation (either good or bad…), other tech companies always follow suit.

There is cause to rejoice, though, with the LeEco Le Pro 3, as the USB Type-C port included with it can be used to listen to audio just like the 3.5mm jack. This is achieved with the use of CDLA technology which was developed by LeTV, makers of the LeEco Le Pro 3. I think I’m going to make a post about this CDLA technology later so that you would know exactly what it means and involves, because right now, I’m feeling sleepy and I have some movies to watch, and I’m still looking for a way to perform both actions simultaneously (got any suggestions?).

Anyway, the downside(s) to this CDLA technology and audio streaming via Type-C port is that just like with the Apple Airpods, you can’t charge the phone while listening to music, and you’d need special USB-Type-C-equipped-headphones to use them; this type of headphones are hard to find now because the technology is relatively new and few headphones have been manufactured for it.

Camera

The LeEco Le Pro 3 sports a 16MP camera unit at the rear. The camera uses a Sony IMX298 sensor, a f/2.0 aperture, and has super-fast PDAF (Phase Detection AutoFocus) which allows you to focus on images in just 0.1 seconds quickly. A dual-tone LED flash accompanies the primary camera.

At the front of the top bezel of the LeEco Le Pro 3 is the 8MP selfie shooter with a pixel size of 1.4um, a f/2.2 aperture and wide-angle lens with a coverage angle of 76.5 degrees.

Software and Hardware

Below the camera module at the back of the LeEco Le Pro 3 is a fingerprint sensor which is used to lock and unlock the smartphone through biometric information securely. The phone also has an IR (InfraRed) blaster which allows you to control other compatible smart appliances (smart TV, A.C., projector, etc.) remotely using your smartphone.

The phone comes with dual speakers that utilise the Dolby Atmos audio technology to deliver quality sounds to users.

Out of the box, the LeEco Le Pro 3 runs on EUI 5.8 which is built on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
