Lenovo Z5 VS Lenovo A5 – What’ll be your choice? Chinese phone maker Lenovo launched a couple of smartphones at an event in Beijing. The Lenovo Z5 was the highlight of the event and aside from the smartphone, the company also released Lenovo K5 Note, Lenovo A5, Watch X smartwatch and the latest 4.0 version of their ZUI custom user interface. The company has been getting some backlash from users after they launched the Lenovo Z5, which features a top-notch and bottom chin. Previous leaks indicated the Lenovo Z5 will feature a true bezel-less display. That doesn’t still mean the Lenovo Z5 is a bad smartphone.

In this article, we will be looking at the Lenovo Z5 and the Lenovo A5; two phones released at the event. The Lenovo A5 and Lenovo Z5 are both budget smartphones. The essence of comparison article like this one is to find out which of these two smartphones offers value for money.

The Lenovo Z5 has a more fancy design than the Lenovo A5, thanks to its colorful and vibrant colors which reflects light. The Lenovo A5 features a plastic back with metal frame, which is what you get in most budget smartphones these days. The Lenovo Z5 weighs 165 grams with 7.9mm thickness while the Lenovo A5 weighs 160 grams with 9.8mm thickness. The thickness on the Lenovo A5 could be as a result of its big battery capacity, although the weight of the phone isn’t all that heavy.

At the back of both the Lenovo Z5 and Lenovo A5 is a rear mounted fingerprint sensor. The Lenovo A5 features a single rear camera in a horizontal direction with the LED flash at the top left. While the Lenovo Z5 features a dual rear camera in a vertical direction also at the top left corner. You can get the Lenovo Z5 in Black, Aurora and Blue body colors. While for the Lenovo A5 is Black, Gold and Rose Gold body colors.

Another win for the Lenovo Z5 here as it features a 6.2 inch IPS LCD touchscreen with an 83.6% screen-to-body ratio. The display of the Lenovo Z5 sports a 1080 x 2246 pixels resolution, an 18.7:9 aspect ratio and 402 PPI density. While the Lenovo A5 features a reduced 5.45 inch IPS LCD touchscreen with 73.9% screen-to-body ratio. The display packs a 720 x 1440 pixels resolution, an 18:9 aspect ratio and 295 pixels per inch density.

The rear camera of the Lenovo A5 features a 13MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash while the front camera features an 8MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. For the Lenovo Z5, the dual rear camera consists of a 16MP primary sensor, an 8MP secondary sensor, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED dual-tone flash. At the front of the Lenovo Z5 is an 8MP front-facing camera.

Powering the Lenovo Z5 is Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, Adreno 509 graphics processing unit and Octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. While on the Lenovo A5 is Mediatek MT6739 chipset, PowerVR GE8100 graphics processing unit and a Quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. Obviously, the Lenovo Z5 will perform the task more efficiently than the Lenovo A5.

Running on the Lenovo Z5 is the company’s newly released ZUI 4.0 skin overlaid on top Android 8.0 Oreo. While the Lenovo A5 also runs on Android 8.0 Oreo but with ZUI 3.9 skin on top. The Lenovo Z5 comes in a 6GB memory with storage options of 64GB and 128GB. While the Lenovo A5 comes in a reduced 3GB memory with storage options of 16GB and 32GB.

The battery department is where the Lenovo A5 gets the right to brag. The smartphone houses a non-removable Li-lon 4000 mAh battery. While on the Lenovo Z5, is a non-removable Li-lon 3300 mAh battery. The Lenovo Z5 features 18W fast battery charging while the Lenovo A5 doesn’t.

Lenovo Z5 VS Lenovo A5 – The Price

The price difference between both smartphones is quite much. The Lenovo Z5 is available for around $299 (N104,650) while the Lenovo A5 is available for around $129 (N45,150). The Lenovo Z5 with a better display, camera hardware and software is worth the extra cash. You get a reduced battery capacity unlike the Lenovo A5 but with a fast battery charging technology.
