LG patents phone with triple front cameras, gets rid of audio jack

There are only a few phones on the market right now that feature triple front-facing cameras. Phones like the Meitu V7 and the Honor Magic 2 are among devices that make the list. According to a patent that was published, an LG device may join the list real soon.

LG recently filed a patent with the World Intellectual property Office for a phone with three cameras on its front in a notch. And yes, it seems LG phones will continue featuring notches.

We do not know the configuration for the triple camera setup. However, we assume that one of the sensors is a ToF 3D camera. The LG G8 ThinQ features two cameras on its front – a wide angle sensor and a ToF camera. The new phone might feature an ultra-wide angle camera.

From the diagram, we see that the phone has triple rear cameras and a fingerprint sensor on its rear (it seems LG is still not sold on in-display fingerprint scanners). The left side of the phone houses the volume control and AI assistant buttons while the right side features the power button and SIM tray.

While the triple-camera on the front is a big deal, the patent doesn’t show any other relevant detail. Oh yeah, the phone doesn’t have an audio jack! LG is one of the few manufacturers that have kept the 3.5mm audio jack on their phones, but according to the patent, LG may have removed it in future devices.

Apart from LG keeping the audio jack on its phones, its flagships get accolades for their impressive audio thanks to the Quad-DAC.
