Meizu Pro 7 – The Dual Screen Wonder Review, Price and Where to buy

DESIGN AND DISPLAY

On the Meizu Pro 7, the Chinese company (Meizu) really stepped up its design game and brought on something amazing different from other conventional smartphones we get to see all around every day. At the front, the Meizu Pro 7 is pretty much basic with only the screen, secondary camera, proximity sensor, home button and fingerprint sensor all playing the role of occupancy. At the back, however, is something that will blow you off your feet – a secondary screen. Yeas, the Meizu Pro 7 comes with two displays – one on the front, the other at the back.

Starting with the main (primary) screen, the Meizu Pro 7 comes in two variants that are differentiated based on screen size. There is a Pro 7 version with a 5.2 inch Super AMOLED display, measures a 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution, weighs 163 grams and has an overall dimension of 147.6 x 70.7 x 7.2 mm which resonates how small, slim and compact the device is.

The secondary screen however is a really small OLED display neatly embedded and incorporated with the dual rear camera. A smartphone or any gadget at all with dual screen is something that you don’t get to come by on the regular. The second screen on this device is a small 2 inch OLED display placed at the upper right corner of the device. I’m pretty sure you want to know what this screen does. Well, the tiny screen is more like a view finder (or a mirror) which helps you take beautiful pictures (particularly portrait picture) with the dual rear camera.

You know how you give someone your phone to help take pictures with your back camera, well, the secondary screen eliminates the need for that. It can be compared to taking accurate and perfect personal shots with your back camera without needing help from a third-party. Now you can take the best selfies with both your front and back camera.

Fun thing about the secondary screen is that you can launch the main camera from it by simply double tapping and then sliding down. Also, the screen displays things like date, weather conditions, temperature, some app notifications, and music player whenever the phone is placed upside down.

PROCESSOR, OS & STORAGE

The Meizu Pro 7 comes out of the box running the Android v7. Nougat operating system and uses the latest chipset from MediaTek, the Helio P25 chipset. There is however a higher edition of the device that runs on the MediaTek X30 chip. The processor has 10 cores (Deca cores) and has a really fast clock speed of 2.6 GHz.

This device also comes with massive a RAM size of 4 GB and regarding built-in storage memory, you can either purchase a 64 GB or 128 GB variant, but there is no micro SD card slot on both.

CAMERA & BATTERY

As mentioned earlier, the Meizu Pro 7 comes with two cameras on the rear; both are 12 MP lenses and of course, there is a LED flash. The front should and will take beautiful, well focused and properly lighted pictures. It is a single 16 MP shooter.

The battery accompanying the Pro 7 is non-removable, a Lithium Ion battery and has a capacity of 3,000 mAh. The Meizu Pro 7 comes with Meizu’s native mCharge (which is equivalent to Fast charge).

PRICING AND AVAILABILTY

Given the specification and features of the device, one would expect the Meizu Pro 7 to come in at a really high price. Well, it does. Depending on some factors like location, exchange rate and mall/store of purchase, the Meizu Pro 7 costs between $550 – $700.
