Meizu rolls out Flyme 8.1 Android 10 Closed Beta for Meizu 16th/16th Plus & 16s/16s Pro

Around the end of June, we were greeted with an announcement from Meizu that that company was recruiting Android 10 Closed Beta testers for 10 smartphones. The company revealed that the first build will begin rolling out on July 21. Since that is today, Meizu has begun rolling out the update to four of its devices. The other six are expected to receive the update as well before or by the end of the month.

Meizu launched its Android-based devices with its Flyme skin. Flyme is an Android skin just like ColorOS, MIUI, and such. Meizu launched the latest version of Flyme (Flyme 8.1) along with Meizu 17/17. The company rolled out the stable update to all eligible devices around the end of May 2020.

When Meizu rolled out the update, however, it rolled out an Android Pie-based version of the update to its older devices. This was surprising given the Meizu 17 series which was launched around the same time was launched with Flyme 8.1 based on Android 10. As such, the company began recruiting closed beta testers for Android 10 last month.

As of now, Meizu’s latest Flyme 8.1 Android 10 Closed Beta build can be installed on the four devices listed below.

  • Meizu 16th
  • Meizu 16th Plus
  • Meizu 16s
  • Meizu 16s Pro

The six phones listed below are expected to receive the update by the end of the month.

  • Meizu 16T
  • Meizu 16X
  • Meizu 16Xs
  • Meizu Note 8
  • Meizu Note 9
  • Meizu X8

For now, we aren’t sure when Meizu will make Android 10 available for the phones listed above running Flyme Global build.
