Meizu to launch its first ‘proper’ smartwatch in Q4 2024 with Flyme For Watch

The Chinese tech company, Meizu has been around for a while now but it is yet to achieve great recognition in markets outside of its country. The official Weibo account of Flyme (the company’s Android skin) has shared a teaser that reveals the first proper smartwatch from the company. According to the teaser, the smartwatch will be finally launching in Q4 2020 and it will feature Flyme For Watch software.

Over the years, we have seen many smartphones from Meizu with an amazing and unique design. Since the company entered the smartphone industry 12 years ago, it has produced software and hardware that have stood out from the rest of the industry. However, we are yet to see a proper smartwatch from the company.

However, it isn’t going to remain that way for long as the company has teased its first-ever proper smartwatch and it will be launching later this year. The teaser also reveals that the smartwatch will feature Flyme for Watch.

For now, we do not know the platform the Flyme For Watch skin is based on. It may be based on the Android Wear platform just like Xiaomi’s MIUI for Watch. It could also be based on AOSP just like Oppo’s ColorOS Watch.

Also, if you have noticed, we said this smartwatch will be the first ‘proper smartwatch’ from the company. This is because Meizu launched a hybrid smartwatch known as “Meizu Smart Watch Mix” back in 2016 which was also known as the “Meizu Light Smartwatch.”

We expect to get new information on the smartwatch in the coming weeks both officially and via leaks. For now, we wait.
