If you read my review on the MSI GS65 gaming laptop, you should have an idea about what the MSI GS73VR 7RF promises.
Although this Pro version is supposed to be an improved version of the Stealth Thin – MSI GS65, it is somehow not the case. However, some of the exciting features found on the Stealth Thin like the Cooler Boost Trinity cooling system and Thunderbolt 3 support are still present.
Without further ado, let learn more about the MSI GS73VR.
Design
Unlike the MSI GS65 that has very minimal bezels, the GS73VR has noticeable bezels that speak of a conventional gaming laptop. Coupled with the fact that the screen size on the Stealth Pro is larger (17.3-inches) than what is found on the Stealth Thin, you get a reasonably larger device.
In addition, the MSI GS73VR is not so heavy at 2.43kg and with a thickness under 20 mm, MSI really performed a feat with this laptop.
Display
The MSI GS73VR comes with the same 1080p panel as the GS65; however, this one is larger at 17.3-inches. This 17.3-inch Full HD display has a refresh rate of 120Hz, which is great for most games but lower than the 144Hz refresh rate found on the MSI GS65 needed for the most graphically intense games.
There is an anti-glare protection included in the screen.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The Stealth Pro features a full-sized keyboard with a number panel. Just like the GS65’s keyboard, this one is also backlit with SteelSeries technology for multicolor lighting. The keys have a good response and tactile feedback with a key travel of 1.9mm (which is good).
Performance
An Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU (with 6GB of VRAM) keep the show running for this laptop. This combination is perfected by the fast DDR4 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD + 2TB HDD combo.
When you combine all the above into a system, what you get is a snappy, high-performing laptop with little or no lagging.
Windows 10 Home is pre-installed on the Stealth Pro laptop for the software experience.
Battery Life
The MSI GS73VR gaming laptop packs a 3-cell 65Wh Li-ion battery that offers a battery life of about 6 to 7 hours.
Connectivity Options
Just like the Stealth Thin laptop, this laptop also uses the same connectivity ports found on the former. And for very fast data transfers and charging, as well as hooking your laptop up to a 4K display, Thunderbolt 3 is also present.
There’s the usual HDMI port, headphone jack, microphone in, SD card slot, Ethernet port, power jack, as well as one USB 2.0 and three USB 3.0 ports. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are also present.

Conclusion
The major advantages of the MSI GS73 VR Stealth Pro over the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin are found in the larger display and extra storage capacity. Besides this, the Stealth Thin is either edging or equaling the Pro laptop.
The nice combination of all the internals on this device makes it a great buy for those looking for a mid-range gaming laptop.
