They have been busy this 2018 with a lot of smartphone releases which includes Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 6. The Nokia 7 Plus will be the focus of this article. According to Nokia, they said the smartphone is one which users can rely on. While the phone features great specs for a mid-range device. Can users actually trust what Nokia said about the phone?

Remember that Nokia released “Nokia 7” in October 2017 which is also a mid-range smartphone. Some people might be curious to know if the Nokia 7 Plus is better than the Nokia 7? If it’s truly a Plus version of the Nokia 7. There are times where the Plus version of a device isn’t really advanced like the name implies. Which is why we need to do a comparison between them to find out.

While the Nokia 7 features a front and back glass with aluminum frame. The Nokia 7 Plus comes in a front glass with an aluminum body which has a ceramic-feel coating. The importance is that the Nokia 7 Plus back will have a unique feeling. And hard to tell if it’s metal or plastic body. The Nokia 7 has an IP58 certified rating which makes it splash proof. While the Nokia 7 Plus hasn’t undergone such certification.

The Nokia 7 is smaller in dimensions measuring 141.2 x 71.5 x 7.9 mm. While the Nokia 7 Plus measures 158.4 x 75.6 x 8 mm. The fingerprint sensor is rear-mounted on both smartphone just below their rear camera. The Nokia 7 comes in only Gloss Black and Matt White body colors. While the Nokia 7 Plus is available in only Black and White body colors.

Nokia 7 Plus VS Nokia 7 – The Display

They both feature the same IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The Nokia 7 house optimum bezels at the top and bottom of the screen. Which is why the screen measures only at 5.2 inches. While the Nokia 7 Plus is near bezel-less with the screen measuring 6.0 inch. In display resolution, the Nokia 7 Plus is slightly better with a 1080 x 2160 pixels. While the Nokia 7 sports a 1080 x 1920 pixels.

But the Nokia 7 small screen size helps it in the pixels per inch density. Its 424 PPI density is better than the Nokia 7 Plus’s 403 PPI density. Their screen is protected by the same Corning gorilla glass 3.

The camera department sees the Nokia 7 Plus as a worthy upgrade. The Nokia 7 features a rear camera with a resolution of a 16MP f/1.8 aperture. And a front camera with 5MP resolution and f/2.0 aperture. While the Nokia 7 Plus houses a dual rear camera with resolutions of 12MP f/1.8 aperture and 12MP f/2.6 aperture. For selfies, a resolution of 16MP f/2.0 aperture can be found in the front camera.

Not much different from their hardware and software. The Nokia 7 houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset with an 8-core processor which clocks at 2.2GHz. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset that powers the Nokia 7 Plus comes with an 8-core processor which reaches a speed of 2.2GHz. The Nokia 7 Plus comes in a standard 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM. While the Nokia 7 comes with 64GB ROM and either 4GB or 6GB ROM.

The Nokia 7 Plus runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Android One). While the Nokia 7 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat which can be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo.

The Nokia 7 Plus comes with a non-removable Li-Ion 3800 mAh battery. While the Nokia 7 comes with a smaller non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery. Although they both offer the same fast battery charging technology.

The Nokia 7 is available for about $435 (152,250). Which is cheaper than the Nokia 7 Plus that’s sold for around $480 (N169,050). The Nokia 7 Plus is indeed a worthy upgrade to the Nokia 7, especially in the battery and camera department.
