Nokia 8 VS Nokia 9 – Major Upgrades in Display, Camera Setup, Software Configuration

Nokia fans were very happy to officially receive Nokia 8 into the smartphone market on October 14, 2017. They now have better reasons to welcome Nokia 9 on August 29, 2018, into the smartphone market. That date is not official yet but analysts believe that unfailing that day is the day that Nokia will emphasize to the world that it’s ready to overhaul its present clout in the international mobile phone sector.

We have seen the full specifications and performance of Nokia 8. Now, what awaits us in Nokia 9 as the device is expected to arrive in the smartphone market soon?

Upgrade in Display and Design

The Nokia 8 comes with a 5.3-inch display with a resolution of 1440 pixels x 2560 pixels at a ppi of 554 pixels per inch. The screen to body ratio is 69 percent, with a display type of IPS LCD. That can pass for a good display when it comes to operating the device, while the Nokia 9 is coming with a 6.01-inch display, Corning Gorilla Glass v5, screen resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, which is also matched by Nokia 8. So there are not much of discrepancies here. The Nokia 9 device will be all metal body, curvy, and water resistant, with a screen to body ratio of 87 percent with a display type OLED.

Upgrade in Camera Setup

The Nokia 8 camera packs in a 13 MP primary camera on the rear side while a 13 MP front camera exists for those who love taking selfies. However, the Nokia 9 will spot a huge or monstrous 41 MP setup. It will sport a triple camera setup supported a 20MP telephoto lens based camera and a 9.7 MP monochrome sensor. For selfies, there will be a 21 MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture.

Upgrades in Storage and Performance

Nokia 8 runs on Octa-core and Nokia 9 does the same. No difference here, except for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, where Nokia 8 got Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. For Nokia 8, RAM is 4GB while it is 8GB for Nokia 9. Internal storage stands at 64GB for Nokia 8, while it is 256GB. Operating System for Nokia 8 is Android v7, while Nokia 9 is operating on Android Oreo v8.1

Battery Life and Network Connectivity

Both phones make use of non-replaceable Li-ion batteries that have quick charge capabilities. The only major difference in the two phones is that Nokia 9’s battery has 3900 mAh capacity while Nokia 8 has 3090 mAh capacity. Not much is different in the network connection except that the audio jack for Nokia 8 is 3.5mm, while for Nokia 9 it is USB type-C

Price and Availability

Nokia 8 is available in select stores online, even on Nokia website itself. The price starts at $399 on Amazon. The Nokia 8 smartphone is yet to be released in some countries. But for Nokia 9, we wait to see how things turn out as regards pricing and availability because the manufacturer has hardly brought out information about it.
