Nokia X6 VS Nokia 7 Plus – Nokia’s 2024 Mid-rangers Battle

Nokia X6 VS Nokia 7 Plus – Nokia’s 2018 Mid-rangers. HMD Global has released a new mid-range smartphone called the Nokia X6. The smartphone was previously called Nokia X when it was unannounced. The name “Nokia X” was given to the smartphone when it leaked with the controversial notch display seen on the iPhone X. However, the name “Nokia X6” sounds great than the “Nokia X”, which would have sounded like a direct copy of the iPhone X.

The new Nokia X6 is now Nokia’s first smartphone to feature the notch display. The phone does have a similar design with the Nokia 7 Plus (one of the best mid-range smartphone in the market right now. Their dual rear camera is enclosed with metal. Let’s see which one of these two is Nokia best mid-range smartphone so far in 2024. The Nokia X6 will likely not be available to all regions/countries according to a spokesperson from HMD Global.

The Nokia X6 features the premium front and back glass with aluminum frame. While the Nokia 7 Plus features a front glass, with no back glass, instead the back is made of aluminum 6000 series body. The Nokia X6 takes a win in the design department in my opinion. The edges of the Nokia 7 Plus consist of copper. The Nokia X6 and Nokia 7 Plus measure the same 8mm in thickness. While the Nokia X6 is lighter than the Nokia 7 Plus. The Nokia X6 weighs just 153 grams while the Nokia 7 Plus weighs 183 grams.

At the back, you’ll see the dual rear camera and fingerprint sensor of the Nokia X6 and Nokia 7 Plus is positioned the same way. Their dual rear camera and a dual-LED dual-tone flash of the Nokia X6 is at the center enclosed with aluminum. While the dual rear camera of the Nokia 7 Plus is enclosed with copper. And the dual-LED dual-tone flash at the right side of the camera. The Nokia X6 is available in a simple Black, Blue and White body colors. The Nokia 7 Plus has no Blue body color and comes in only Black and White body colors.

They both feature an IPS LCD touchscreen, on the Nokia 7 Plus is a 6.0-inch screen. While on the Nokia X6 is a 5.8-inch screen. Thanks to the Nokia X6’s notch and no top bezel, its screen stretches up to an 80.3% screen-to-body ratio. While the Nokia 7 Plus features a minimal top bezel and its screen stretches up to 77.2% screen-to-body ratio.

The Nokia X6 sports a 19:9 aspect ratio display, 1080 x 2280 pixels resolution and 435 pixels per inch density. The display of the Nokia X6 is slightly better than of the Nokia 7 Plus. The Nokia 7 Plus sports an 18:9 aspect ratio display, 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution and 403 pixels per inch density. Protecting the screen of the Nokia X6 and Nokia 7 Plus is Corning gorilla glass 3.

Nokia X6 VS Nokia 7 Plus – The Camera

The Nokia X6 and Nokia 7 Plus features the same 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. The main difference is Zeiss optics featured in the front camera of the Nokia 7 Plus. The dual rear camera of the Nokia X6 consists of a 16MP primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture and giro-EIS, combined with a 5MP secondary sensor and f/2.2 aperture. The Nokia 7 Plus’s dual rear camera features a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 5MP secondary sensor with f/2.6 aperture, Zeiss optics, gyro EIS, dual pixel phase detection autofocus and 2x optical zoom.

The Nokia 7 Plus is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset coupled with Adreno 512 graphics processing unit. While powering the Nokia X6 is Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset with Adreno 509 graphics processing unit. The Snapdragon 660 chipset is clocked at 2.2GHz while the Snapdragon 636 chipset is clocked at 1.8GHz. Thanks to its Adreno 512 GPU, the Nokia 7 Plus is a gamer-friendly smartphone than the Nokia X6.

The Nokia 7 Plus comes in only a 4GB memory with 64GB internal storage. While the Nokia X6 comes in two memory version; the 4GB memory with either 32GB or 64GB storage and the 6GB memory with 64GB storage. They both run on pure stock Android 8.1 Oreo, which means no bloatware problem.

Nokia X6 VS Nokia 7 Plus – The Battery

The Nokia 7 Plus pegs a bigger battery capacity, it houses a non-removable Li-lon 3800 mAh battery. While the Nokia X6 packs a non-removable Li-lon 3060 mAh battery. No wireless charging support for both phones. But they do support fast battery charging (Quick Charge 3.0 – 9V/2A, 18W).

Nokia X6 VS Nokia 7 Plus – The Price

The Nokia X6 is sold for about $290 (N101,500). And the Nokia 7 Plus is sold for a higher price at about $463 (N162,050). The Nokia X6 is a very solid smartphone. It falls in the lower mid-range category while the Nokia 7 Plus falls in the higher mid-range category. But still, the Nokia X6 manages to challenge the Nokia 7 Plus in some specs department such as design, display, and even camera.
