OnePlus merges with OPPO – it’s official

OnePlus has confirmed the merger with OPPO. The news was announced at the beginning of the year with rumors about the integration of the respective research and development departments, but now it can be considered official in all respects. To announce it is the same CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau, in a post published in the official forum:

As many of you know, I took on additional responsibilities last year to oversee the product strategy of both OnePlus and OPPO. In the meantime, we have integrated some of our teams in OPPO to simplify activities and capitalize on shared resources. After seeing the positive impact of these changes, we decided to further integrate our organization into OPPO’s.

The OnePlus number one points out that the merger will result in positive effects for users loyal to the OnePlus brand. The Chinese manufacturer will have more resources to improve its products, for example by making software updates for its smartphones available more quickly. Important thing- The OnePlus brand will continue to exist and operate independently of OPPO. New OnePlus-branded products will be marketed, the company will organize events for the launch of future devices and relations with the community will also remain unchanged.

Today’s communication in fact confirms and formalizes a process that had been underway for some time- OnePlus and OPPO – which you remember are both headed by BBK Electronics – share different technologies (think of those for fast charging) and now Pete Lau has done clarity underlining that the process of exchanging resources will continue in the future, even more intensely. For now, formally, only benefits for users. The moves made by OnePlus in the coming weeks will concretely say what the contribution deriving from the merger with OPPO will be and what any changes to the commercial policy implemented so far.
