Philips S260 Quick Review, Specs/Features & Price

Philips S260 is one of the budget-friendly smartphones that the company released in the month of July 2019. This phone is entry-level at best, making use of non-competitive features that many flagships have today. However, it looks as if the performance features are okay when you look at other areas such as camera and battery.

Philips S260 Design and Display

This Philips S260 is made of plastic materials. One negative thing is that it appears to come only in black color. Dimensions are 71.1 x 150.7 x 9 mm and it weighs 162 grams. No waterproof design here at all, no a fingerprint technology. I am not surprised at that.

On the display there is IPS capacitive touchscreen glass. The size of the display is 5.45 inches; definitely not one of the smallest, but the resolution is 480 x 960. Also noted is the regular 16.7 million colors in the display, there is also multi-touch experience, 197 ppi for pixel density; and for protection, it seems that the phone is not so strong in this as well as other phones of this nature. The screen to body ratio is 71.77 percent.

Camera Features

This Philips S260 is a dual camera smartphone. The main rear camera is 5.04 MP which comes with single LED flash and it is able to produce good images, while the video quality is also moderate. Further, the front camera also arrives in its own unique features coupled with other features. It is only 1.92 MP which comes without LED flash. Glad there is auto focus feature built into the camera.

Hardware and Software

Philips S260 smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition on modified user interface. I can’t tell if this mobile device can update to Android 9 Pie or10, for it is a smartphone released in 2024. This smartphone is also powered by the Spreadtrum SC9850K chipset. The CPU is Quad core 1.4 GHz. But the GPU is ARM Mali T820 MP1.

Storage Capacity and Sensors

This smartphone storage capacity is 1GB of RAM of which the user is able to expand. Furthermore, there is 8GB of ROM and of course, this reveals the real fact that it is an Android smartphone. However, the user can increase storage with the aid of microSD card. Sensors here in this mobile phone are accelerometer, light and proximity.

Network and Connectivity

This Philips S260 phone brings with it all the features of a 4G Android smartphone and all other components such as Bluetooth, Wi-fi, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, and others like these. Interestingly, this mobile phone too is able to switch over from one network to the other because the user doesn’t even need to worry over when to search for the best available network present in a certain location. It makes use of dual micro SIM cards.

Battery Power

Powering the Philips S260 device is Li-Po 2000 mAh battery which is removable. That appears to be a good thing for backup considering the makeup of the phone even though I feel it should have been made better. Further, there is no wireless charging and no fast charging technology herein.

Price and Availability

The Philips S260 smartphone official pricing at launch time isn’t known. As for availability, the smartphone is out from the factory since July 2019.
