Sony’s ultra-efficient assembly line that can produce 2 PlayStation 4 consoles per minute. Time is also saved by using high-end technology.

The Kisarazu-based facility owes a team of 32 experts Mitsubishi robots, wholly owned by Sony, operating a fast 100-meter assembly line. The facility has helped manufacture all generation PlayStation hardware since the PlayStation 1 was produced in 1994.

The facility is almost completely automated, and only four people work at the factory. While robots perform most of the assembly, including bending the wire and passing it through small recesses, workers reinforce unfinished consoles in the line and then pack the finished products.

Sony started using this strategy in 2024. It will also help maximize production efficiency for new-generation PlayStation 5 consoles.
