Chinese OEMs got no chill. You can repeat that after me and I won’t take an offence. Just joking there. Popwinds is another Chinese OEM to brace the Android market with remarkable Android devices. The latest off the Popwinds platform is the Popwinds M1029. The device was released this year and still has a not so recent Android OS. Although the tablet presents neat specs at a really affordable price, it’s price being toned down a bit would have made more sense. It packs a cool memory as well as an impressive display. Get to know more about the Popwinds M1029 tablet as we proceed in this article.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
The tablet’s design holds the “sleek and slim” at the same time. Its body wrapped in metal backed up with its body protection makes the tablet all the more lovely. The tablet comes singly in Gray and has a thickness of 7.9 mm. This further emphasises its slimness. The tablet’s weight is also light at 508g (battery inclusive). The tablet’s rectangular shape bears the front camera at the top bezel if placed in a landscape point of view while the rear camera is located at the topmost position at the rear. The “popwinds” logo appears at the centre of the tablet’s rear. Dedicated keys on the tablet include the volume keys and the power button (found on the tablet’s right). The tablet also comes with a stylus pen.
The tablet is blessed with a 10.1-inch display. The display comes along with 224.71 ppi pixel density as well a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 that gives the screen sharpness. The tablet has a display area of 70% which denotes its screen to body ratio. I won’t forget to add that its IPS LCD touchscreen has the multi-touch input.
HARDWARE AND MEMORY
The CPU that powers the tablet is an ARM Cortex-A7 CPU with eight cores and a clocking speed of 2.0GHz. The chipset that comes along with this tablet is the Allwinner A83T. This 32-bit processor uses the 28nm process technology.
The fluid multi-tasking on the tablet is the primary function of a built-in 2GB RAM. As the RAM does the job of multi-tasking, an inherent 32GB ROM stores up files and documents. The ROM can be extended to 32GB with the aid of a micro SD card.
CAMERA AND SOFTWARE
The camera located at the rear has 5MP quality for capturing images. It has features such as autofocus, face detection and HDR, yet it lacks a LED flash support. The front camera has a lower 2MP shooter for taking selfies. Just like the rear camera, it lacks a LED flash support. The tablet runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop.
BATTERY AND CONNECTIVITY
No cellular connectivity on the tablet, however, there’s the presence of Wi-Fi connectivity, USB connectivity and Bluetooth on the device. The tablet’s quantum of solace is a non-removable 5,500mAh battery. The Lithium Polymer battery gives 140 hours on standby.
PRICE
Popwinds M1029 is sold at the price of US $270 which is about NGN97,000.
