There are many words that can be used to describe the Razer Blade laptop such as “ultra-portable, game-ready, sleek” and so on. This laptop is part of Razer’s three-pronged first venture into gaming laptops and they claim that it’s the thinnest 14-inch gaming laptop ever produced.

When manufacturer’s make a feat as this – very portable but still powerful, we cannot help but begin to wonder where they compromised. But that is far from the case with Razer’s gaming laptop as the trade-offs are only little.


When I say the Razer Blade is ultra-portable I know what I mean. Weighing a measly 4.1 pounds and measuring a ground-breaking17.9 mm 0.7-inches thickness, this laptop is a clear testament to this fact.

The chassis is made from air-craft grade aluminum and looks & is high-end. In addition, the use of a metal chassis means that the device is also sturdy and durable.


A 14-inch display is fitted into the Razer Blade. Above the display is a 2MP webcam for your video chatting needs and photo capturing. Despite the not-so-small bezels on this laptop, the overall build is still compact.

The 14-inch screen has a Full HD resolution that translates to a 16:9 aspect ratio. Besides you can get a 4K multi-touch screen upgrade if a 1080p one isn’t good enough.

The keyboard is flanked by a set of two stereo speakers and sitting beneath it is a touchpad. This keyboard comes with anti-ghosting feature and Chroma backlighting. Through the Advanced Chroma Configuration, the backlighting for each key can be programmed to suit your needs.

The touchpad on the Razer Blade is very responsive and accurate with two clickable buttons visible at the bottom.


A seventh-generation Core i7 CPU with an Nvidia GTX 1060 GPU (with 6GB VRAM) forms the core of the processing unit for the Razer Blade laptop. This processor – the Intel Core i7-7700HQ – is a popular one found on most gaming laptops has a frequency of 2.8GHz that can be overclocked to 3.8GHz, thanks to Intel’s Turbo Boost technology.

In addition, a dual-channel DDR4 RAM is on board with 16gigs of space. For storing files and applications, the fast 256GB SSD will perform the job. Windows 10 (Home Edition) is pre-installed on this laptop for your software needs.

Battery Life

A non-removable 70Whr Li-ion battery keeps the show running for the Razer Blade. With this battery, users should expect an average of 6 to 7 hours of use which is really nice.
