Redmi Note 8 Series Smartphones Will Be Powered By MediaTek G90T & G90 SoC Chipset; Mediatek Confirms

Redmi, the sub-brand of Xiaomi is finally going to release its upcoming Redmi Note 8 series smartphones on 29th August in China. Soon after, the phones will reach to the Indian markets. Redmi Note 8 series includes the Redmi Note 8 Pro & the Redmi Note 8.

The Redmi Note 8 series smartphones will be powered by the recently launched MediaTek G90 series chipsets which are being marketed as best mobile gaming processors. MediaTek has also declared that their G90 series chipsets including MediaTek G90T & G90 are far better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 and 730G. The recent Geekbecnh and AnTuTu Benchmark performance results also show that Mideatek G90T has received more scores than the Snapdragon one.

The Chinese semiconductor manufacturing company, Mediatek used the Weibo platform to announce that the upcoming Redmi Note 8 Pro & Redmi Note 8 will be powered by MediaTek G90T and G90 Soc processor. Additionally, Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi’s VP had also confirmed that the upcoming Redmi phone with MediaTek Helio G90 Soc range chipsets will be launched soon.

Talking about the MediaTek G90 series chipsets, the chipsets are built on the 12nm technology which will also include MediaTek’s Hyperengine game technology for enhanced gaming experience on smartphones. The chipsets have an octa-core CPU along with Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU. According to the company, the combination of CPU and GPU delivers up to 1TMACs AI performance.

The Octa-Core CPU includes two cores based on ARM Cortex-A76 and the rest six cores are based on Cortex A-55 clocked at the maximum speed of up to of 2.05GHz. The GPU Mali-G76 3EEMC4 provided are the clocked to deliver speed up to 800MHz. The G90T SoC chipset supports quad-camera setup with up to 64MP primary sensor, 90Hz display and 10GB RAM whereas the standard G90 SoC chipset supports triple camera setup with up 48MP primary sensor, 60Hz display and 8GB RAM.

Redmi Note 8 is considerd to be powered by Helio G90T Soc and the standard Redmi Note will come with G90 Soc. As already said, the Redmi Note 8 series will be launched on 27th August in China. It has been confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 Pro will sport a quad-camera setup with 64MP primary camera with Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 image sensor. However, the details regarding the camera department of Redmi Note 8 is still unclear, but it is suggested that the will be equipped with a triple-camera setup with 48MP as the primary sensor.

Xiaomi has also said the Redmi Note 8 series smartphone will have a better display with high screen-to-body ratio and battery life as compared to the Redmi Note 7 Pro. It is expected the phones will have a 500mAh battery.
