Samsung held its developer event today. In addition to its first foldable smartphone, other interesting news has been revealed. One of them is the new One UI, which will arrive to replace the Samsung Experience.
For years the interface of Samsung was one of the most detested in the market. TouchWiz had more personalization, which caused problems in the performance of their smartphones. The criticism was heard and the Samsung Experience was born.
Indeed, Experience has come lighter and more intuitive than its predecessor. This new era of Samsung’s interface has restored due processing power to its smartphones and so appeased the fury of some fans.
Although things are more crying in this chapter, the South Korean giant saw that it was time for something new. It’s time to look again into the future of mobile technology and introduce a new interface/customization of Android.
Samsung Experience falls to make way for One UI
It was at the conference today that South Korea introduced the world to One UI. This will be the new interface for South Korean smartphones from now on. So soon, we’ll say goodbye to the Samsung Experience.
One UI was developed in partnership with Google and the Android developer community. As a result, we have a simpler interface and ease of use with one hand.
To do this, One UI will focus on the most relevant content for the user at the bottom of the screen. As a result, we have a smaller layout to leverage the one-handed use of the smartphone. This means that both menus and pop-ups will appear at the bottom of the screen.
In contrast, the top of One UI will be entitled to larger headers. Of course, this type of approach will result in more wasted/unused space.
Your Galaxy’s lock screen will also change. In effect, from now on this screen will be entitled to new fonts, new icons, and new navigation buttons. In addition, Dark Mode will be a more assertive presence.
The replacement Samsung Experience will also be compatible with your foldable smartphone. This new interface will be able to perfectly fit each of the positions in which we place this irreverent device.
Finally, it should be noted that One UI will start reaching users in January 2019. This will be part of the Android Pie update for South Korean smartphones. Still, One UI will reach beta testers later this month, just like the new OS version.
