Samsung, in conjuction with China Telecom, has unveiled the Samsung W2018, a flagship clamshell device which comes as a direct successor to the W2017. The unveiling of the device which was done at an event in Xiamen, China coincides with Samsung’s W-series 10th anniversary s well as Samsung’s 25th year in the Chinese market.
As is the custom with flagship devices, the W2018 features high-end specs with an impressive design although all that comes at a mind-blowing price.

Display
The Samsung W2018 sports dual AMOLED displays. On the outside sits a 4.2-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD resolution. On the inside as well sits a 4.2-inch AMOLED display with FHD(1920*1080 pixels) resolution.
Design
The device comes in a traditional clamshell design with keypads and navigational buttons for input. The Flip phone carries a metal and glass build weighing in large at 247g. The mobile comes in Black color with limited editions donning Gold and Silver hues.

Storage & Processor
Over to the internals, the W2018 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC which runs on a 6GB of RAM platform paired with 64GB of internal storage. The mobile offers support for microSD expansion.

Camera
The device flaunts an impressive back camera setup with a 12MP shooter and a first of its kind f/1.5 aperture, the lowest ever seen on a mobile phone since the f/1.6 aperture on the LG V30. The front camera sensor is a 5MP shooter with f/1.9 aperture.
Battery & Connectivity
The Flip phone retains the same 2300mAh capacity battery that powered its predecessor, the W2017. Connectivity options include; Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, USB Type-C port, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, 4G LTE and support for wireless charging.

Software
The Samsung W2018 runs on Android’s Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box with a promise of Oreo upgrade in 2024. The Flip phone also becomes the first to feature Samsung’s Bixby Assistant also with its own Bixby button.
