Sony has announced its Xperia XZ1 Compact, a smartphone which you could just label a ‘baby brother’ to the Sony Xperia XZ1 which was announced alongside it. The Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact features a smaller 4.6 inch display but will be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset that is seen in its ‘bigger brother’. Display
The Xperia XZ1 Compact features a 4.6-inch HD display with a display resolution of 720 by 1080 pixels resolution. The device enjoys oleophobic coating as well as Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, not to forget that it is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance
Design
The XZ1 Compact comes in a smaller form factor, Sony deciding to substitute the all metal design for a glass fibre and plastic build. It measures 129 by 65 by 9.3mm in dimensions and weighs 140g.
Camera
Sony’s super-slow motion video feature will feature on this one as well as its larger sibling. A similar camera setup is also adopted on the rear of the device as it sports a 19MP camera with Exmos RS sensor, 1/2.3″ sensor, f/2.0 lens, predictive capture feature however, the front sports an 8MP camera with 1/3″ Exmos RS sensor, 18mm wide-angle lens, f/2.4 aperture as well as a 120 degree field-of-view.
Storage & Processor
Sony’s Xperia XZ1 Compact will carry Qualcomm’s Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 processor. The smartphone also offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage with microSD support for expanding storage up to 256GB.
Software & Hardware
The Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact will run on Android’s latest operating system; the Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box just underneath Sony’s UX. The XZ Compact features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded in its power button.
Battery
The device comes with an inbuilt 2700mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charging and Qnovo Adaptive Charging support aimed at prolonging the battery life as well as speed up battery charging.
