How to Speed Up Face ID on iPhone X
Glance At Your iPhone X and Swipe to Unlock At Once
Initially, when I just started using Face ID, I would glance at my iPhone X and then wait for it to verify my face before I would swipe up to go to the Home Screen. This process was a bit slow and I thought that swipe gesture, in the end, was the cause of the lagging (to some extent).
There is a very simple yet effective method you can use to make the process of unlocking your iPhone X with Face ID a bit faster. All you need to do is glance at your iPhone X and swipe up at the same time without waiting for the unlock sign. So by the time Face ID is done verifying your face, your device will have been unlocked and in the Home screen.
This should make a difference of a few seconds.
Disable Require Attention for Face ID
With the “Require Attention for Face ID” feature activated, the TrueDepth camera offers an extra layer of security by making sure that you are looking at the device attentively.
Apart from this feature giving an additional layer of security, it also ensures that your iPhone X does not unlock by mistake.
However, this feature slightly slows down the unlocking process of your iPhone X. And just in case you are wearing glasses that aren’t quite transparent to the facial recognition system, it will not allow your iPhone to be unlocked. So, if you do not want to face this issue and you are not too bothered about security, turn the feature off. To do so, follow the steps below.
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Next, tap on the General option and then tap on Accessibility.
- Now, you need to tap on Face ID & Attention and then turn off Require Attention for Face ID.
From now on, you will not need to pay much attention to the camera of your iPhone X whenever you want to unlock using Face ID. Though this will make your device less secure, it will still help you sped up your Face ID.
Keep Your iPhone X Updated
As more updates come up, Face ID will keep improving; very much like Touch ID. So whenever there is an update available for your iPhone X, make sure to install it at the earliest. This is also one of the effective ways you can use to enhance the performance of not just the facial recognition system of your iPhone X but the whole device. To update your device, follow the steps below.
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone X.
- Next, tap on the “General” option and then tap on “Software Update.”
- Download and install the update on your iPhone X.
