Do you want to disable Macbook pro auto power on with lid open or charger Connection? Then stay with me as I teach you how to do just that. If you have been using any of the earlier version of the MacBook; anyone released before 2016 then you may or may not like the fact that your new MacBook(Anyone released after 2016) powers on immediately you open the lid or when you plug in a charger.
This might be particularly good for some people who are usually in hurry to do a thing or two on their device and don’t want to waste any more time turning it on. This sounds pretty good even to me. However, if you’re just opening it to maybe clean the screen or do something else that doesn’t require the MacBook to be Turned On then it might be pretty frustrating. Especially if you just want to take maybe a piece of paper or something you kept in between it.
Also, plugging it in when you are maybe or maybe not low on battery automatically turns it on. This may or may not be okay depending on the circumstance. If you were looking to juice it up a little before rushing out with it then booting up with the little battery it gets might be frustrating. But I guess it all boils down to preference. So if you like this feature then you can keep enjoying it but if you would like to stop this from happening then you are in the right place.
Unfortunately, there is not the way to do this in the settings menu which I guess you might have looked for. To disable this feature, you will have to enter a code in the terminal which we will be telling you how to go about it here.
How To Disable MacBook Pro Auto Power On With Lid Open/Charger Connection
- Click On Command (⌘) and Spacebar to access the Spotlight Search.
Type In Terminal and Open it.
Type in the following – sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00
After typing in the code above, Hit Enter.
You will be asked for the password, input the password and Hit Enter.
Just like that, you’ve successfully turned off the feature. Now you can open the lid of your MacBook or plug in a charger without the device Turning On.
If you would like to Turn On this feature at a later time then simply access the Terminal by following the instructions above and input this – sudo nvram AutoBoot=%03 instead of the one above and hit Enter. This will bring back the features on your MacBook.
