How To Take Full Webpage Screenshots

There always comes a time when you want to save a webpage for later reading due to maybe poor/no Internet connection. The usual route most people take is to either save the entire page for offline reading or to bookmark that page. However, a different, simpler approach in such kind of situation is to take a screenshot of the entire webpage and refer to it later as an image file for easy viewing.

In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through the process of how you can screenshot an entire webpage so that you can view it at a later time.

For this tutorial I’ll be using an add-on called “Fireshot”. With Fireshot you can take a screenshot of a full webpage, edit and annotate your screenshots, and save as PDF, JPEG or PNG files. One amazing thing of this add-in is that it can be used offline. Fireshot is available on most browsers including Chrome, Firefox and Opera browsers.

Procedure

  • To get started, first download and add the Fireshot extension to your browser. Ensure to enable the extension.

  • Open the website/webpage you wish to capture.
  • Next, click on the Fireshot icon indicated by an “S” icon at the tool bar. Then click on “Capture entire page” option to screenshot the entire webpage including the non-visible parts.

Fireshot gives you a list of options to choose from when you want to take a webpage screenshot. You can either capture the entire page, capture only the visible part of capture a selection.

  • Finally, you will be redirected to a page showing you what you have just captured. From this page you can save the screenshot as an image or as a PDF document.

Another interesting thing of capturing a webpage using this method is that it captures the page in its original screen resolution.

The captured webpage is shown below

Conclusion

Fireshot is not the only solution that you can use for this; other extensions such as Full Page Screenshots for Chrome and Firefox are also available.
