The TAMBO TA 50 is an affordable Android smartphone unveiled in Nigeria with Android Go Edition. The TAMBO company recently hit the Nigeria market, and since then they have released affordable smartphones, and one of them is the TAMBO TA 50, and the other is TAMBO TA 55. The TAMBO TA 55 is powered by Android 8.1 Oreo with massive battery capacity, and they are both equipped with a fingerprint scanner for security. In this post, we will be comparing the TAMBO TA 50 with the TAMBO TA 55 smartphone.
TAMBO TA 50 VS TAMBO TA 55 – Design
Let’s be sincere here; there is nothing special or attractive on both phones design. These days that mobile phone manufacturer is paying attention to modern day design by reducing the bezels. The TAMBO TA 50 and TA 55 packs annoying thick bezels both on the top and bottom of the front which reduced the screen display size. Other notable features include the single rear camera and a fingerprint scanner for security with an LED flash. The power button and volume rocker are slotted on the right side while they both measures 9.15mm in thickness.

On the front, you will get a standard screen size of 5.0-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a screen resolution of 640 x 1280 pixels and 268 pixels per inch density. It has a 2.5D curved glass on top, and the screen reaches up to 78% screen-to-body ratio. The TAMBO TA 55 has a bigger screen size. The smartphone has a 5.5 inches 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a screen resolution of 640 x 1280 pixels and 268 pixel per inch density which is the same with it’s rival. It also has a 2.5D curved glass on top, and the screen reaches up to 78% screen-to-body ratio. Both phones have the same 18:9 aspect ratio, where the TA 55 has an edge is on the bigger screen size while the TA 50 with 5.0 inches will offer sharp screen than it’s rival.

On the camera department, both phones are both equipped with the same camera configuration both on the back and front. The TAMBO TA 50 and the TAMBO TA 55 both have a rear camera of 8MP with an LED flash and other features that includes Face beauty, panorama, burst mode, sticker and lots more. For selfies, you will also get the same 8MP on both phones, and it’s paired with an LED flash as well for low light photos.

The TAMBO TA 50 runs on Android 8.1 Go Edition while the TAMBO TA 55 runs on standard Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. Apart from this, both phones are built with MediaTek MT6580A chip with 4-core processor clocking at a normal speed of 1.3GHz. They have ARM Mali-400 MP2 for graphics and on the memory but boast an average 16GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable via micro SD card with 1GB for heavy lifting.
TAMBO TA 50 VS TAMBO TA 55 – Battery & Price
Both the TAMBO TA 50 and the TAMBO TA 55 have a nonremovable battery capacity of 4000 mAh without fast charging technology. The price of TAMBO TA 50 and the TAMBO TA 55 is not yet officially available, but the smartphones are expected to sell under $100.
Our Verdict:
Just as mentioned above, both phones design and specifications are not impressive at all.
There are other better options out there in TECNO and iTel brands like the iTel P32 or the TECNO Spark 2 that will likely fall in the same price segment. The only selling point of both phones are the massive battery capacity and the fingerprint scanner. Still, you can get the same feature in the iTel P32 smartphone.
