The company known as Tambo Mobile has made its in-roads to the Nigerian smartphone market. One of the key highlights for the company is the unveiling of Tambo TA 55 in the month of September 2018.
The Tambo TA 55 is an entry-level device which will be targeted at those with a budget.
Massive for the smartphone is the battery life and the fingerprint scanner which is rare in mobile phones such as these.
Tambo TA 55 Design and Display
TA 55 is a 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen device. It’s also got 640 x 1280 pixels in resolutions. This device is made from polycarbonate material. It is home to a loudspeaker situated at the rear to give the smartphone a smooth overall feel.
This smartphone measures 9.15mm in thickness and weighs 162.2 grams and available in champagne and black colors. The screen has a 2.5D curved glass on top and it stretches up to 78 percent screen to body ratio.
Camera Features
Samsung helped out with building the rear camera. That makes us think that Tambo TA 55 will be of a better quality. The rear camera is 8 MP AF and the front camera is also 8 MP. The front camera in this case comes with LED flash so the user can take good quality pictures in low light conditions.
The rear camera of Tambo TA 55 also comes with Face Beauty, panorama, burst mode, sticker mode and lots of other features. So we see that this budget device is able to produce good quality pictures even poor lighting situations.
Hardware, Software, and Storage Capacities
This device houses the MT6580A chipset from MediaTek and this is a 28nm process technology. The chipset has a 4-core processor that clocks at a normal speed of 1.3 GHz. The ARM Mali-400 MP2 graphics is in charge at the graphics department.
Tambo TA 55 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, which we believe is able to update to the latest Android 9 Pie.
Storage on the Tambo TA 55 includes 1GB RAM, which suggests that at times the user may have to delete stuff from the device as that is not enough space. But things get better at internal storage department where there is ample room to store more items. Please notice that in the past, many smartphones of this nature usually arrive with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage.
This means that for the Tambo TA 55, storage capacity is better. Storage can be stretched up to 64GB with the use of a microSD card.
Tambo TA 55 Network and Connectivity
This device supports 2G and 3G internet networks and it is able to accommodate dual Nano and a microSD card. TA 55 is able to handle Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, A-GPS, GLONASS, etc.

Battery Life
It is powered by a non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery. But this comes without fast charging technology. The power of the battery suggests that the user could go for two days using the device without charging it if he or she had gotten a full charge the day before.
Price and Availability
Tambo TA 55 was announced in the month of September and is now released. It is not available in online stores such as Jumia or Konga right now. Please note that this device is exclusive to the Nigerian smartphone market and would not be found on the Indian market. This is the situation for now. So if you search for it on the Tambo Indian website, you won’t find it there.
