CSOT (China Star Optoelectronics Technology, AKA Huaxing Optoelectronics), a subsidiary pf TCL has just built a new screen technology that will be able to perform dynamic frame rate switching. This means that the new display technology can switch between different frame rates such as from the traditional 60Hz refresh rate to 30Hz or even 120Hz.
The company has already begun mass production of the new display panels and it is expected to be launched soon. Also, the company has also begun mass production of the 144Hz technology and it is expected to be launched in the second half of 2020. CSOT has revealed that the display employs a 30Hz refresh rate when in reading mode or when it is displaying a static image. This can enable it to save up to 18 percent of battery life.
With this, the phone will be able to offer a more durable standby time. The faster refresh rate will be used when playing games, watching videos or movies, and other such activities. The higher refresh rate will also have a 240Hz touch sampling rate. This will enable the display to fix the problems regarding motion blur or high speed trailing. The display also features a resolution of 2340 x 1090px and a maximum brightness of 500 nits.
