Tecno Camon i Air – Review
The Tecno Camon i Air is now available for just $139. The cheaper variant of the popular Camon i from Tecno comes with a reduced RAM and internal storage space. Officially released on the 6th of February, the Camon i Air is very affordable and targets those on a budget. Without further ado, this is a review of the Camon i Air.
Design
There’s no major difference in the design here, still sports the overall plastic look and metal frame. Looking simple with the rear fingerprint scanner still sitting at the usual position, which is above the Tecno logo. However, there’s a slight difference or perhaps improvement with the location of the rear camera and Quad-LED flash.
They are now on top of a vertically shaped foundation at the top left corner, giving us an iPhone X vibe. It’s still slim, measuring 7.75mm in thickness because the battery capacity wasn’t increased. It supports dual nano sim, weighs 172g overall and available in Champagne and Black colors.

Display
Camon i Air is still bezel-less but not entirely, reaching 75.72% screen to body ratio. A much adamant bottom bezel and an active top bezel, housing the selfie camera, LED flash and sensors. The smooth back has a soft texture to it, making it easy to hold, operate and flaunt.
The 5.65-inch HD+ IPS capacitive touchscreen is standard, but better than other display in the Camon series. It boasts of a resolution of 1440×720 pixels, and 285 pixel per inch density. The screen is protected by a 2.5D Curved Glass Screen offering scratch resistant.
Hardware and Software
The MediaTek MT6737 chipset is still in charge here, with Quad-core processor reaching a speed of 1.25GHz. In the graphics department, ARM Mali-T720 MP2 processing unit is in control with 2-Cores and clocking at 600MHz. It has a 28nm process technology, 64-bit CPU architecture and 2GB of RAM.
The 2GB of RAM reaches a clock speed of 640 MHz for fast and smooth multitasking when dealing with light apps. The 16GB internal storage space on the Camon i Air should be enough to store all your files. But if it isn’t, you can upgrade up to 128GB by inserting a memory card in the microSD slot. Tecno Camon i Air runs smoothly on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with HiOS 2.0 UI.
Camera
The rear camera is still a 13MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture capturing 4K resolution images. The camera takes clear photographs with 4160 x 3120 Pixels in dimension, thanks to the Quad-LED Flash and other features. The pixels on the selfie camera is now reduced to 8MP with the front flash at the other side. Nevertheless, the selfies taken with camera will still come out sharp even in low light environment.
Battery
Tecno Camon i Air is powered by a 3050mAh Non-removable Li-Po battery, with no fast battery charging feature. It should take about 3 hours to fully charge up the phone from 0% to 100%.
