Tecno Spark 2 VS iTel A32F – Budget phones with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition)

Tecno Spark 2 VS iTel A32F – Budget smartphones with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition). Tecno Mobile, Infinix Mobility, and iTel are among the largest phone makers in Africa. They specialize in manufacturing affordable devices for people who live on a budget and can’t afford most high-end smartphones. Tecno Mobile has released a brand new budget smartphone called the Spark 2, which is a successor to last year’s Tecno Spark K7.

The Tecno Spark 2 retails for around N36,000 ($103) and they aren’t the only phone maker with a smartphone in that price range. iTel recently released the iTel A32F, which has a good quality-price ratio. One good thing the Tecno Spark 2 and the iTel A32F have in common is that they both run on Android 8.1 Oreo (Oreo edition). Let’s see which of these two smartphones offers better quality-price ratio.

Tecno Spark 2 VS iTel A32F – The Design

The design of the Tecno Spark 2 and the iTel A32F is simple and cool. They both feature a front glass while the Tecno Spark 2 comes with a polycarbonate unibody and the iTel A32F with a metallic unibody. Antenna lines can be seen at the top and bottom back of both smartphones. The antenna lines on the Tecno Spark 2 is curved at the edges.

The Tecno Spark 2 and iTel A32F comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, which is one of the highlights of the iTel A32F. The rear camera with LED flash is in a horizontal direction on the iTel A32F. While it’s in a vertical direction on the Tecno Spark 2. The Phantom Black, Metallic Red, Champagne Gold and Ash body colors are available for the Tecno Spark 2. While the Black and Gold body colors are available for the iTel A32F.

Tecno Spark 2 VS iTel A32F – The Display

Unfortunately, iTel decided to stick with large bezels for the iTel A32F, which is a big turn off for me. The three navigation buttons are bolded arranged on the bottom bezels. The Tecno Spark 2, on the other hand, features an 18:9 aspect ratio bezel-less display. The iTel A32F sports a 5.0 inch IPS LCD panel, 480 x 640 pixels resolution, 195 pixels per inch and 69% screen-to-body ratio. While the Tecno Spark 2 comes with a 6.0 inch IPS LCD panel, 720 x 1440 pixels resolution, 268 pixels per inch density and 75.8% screen-to-body ratio.

Tecno Spark 2 VS iTel A32F – The Camera

The Tecno Spark 2 clear win the camera department. The iTel A32F sports a 5MP rear camera, f/2.4 aperture and LED flash. While at the front, the iTel A32F features a 2MP shooter with LED flash. iTel really didn’t live up to expectations here in my opinion. You get a 13MP rear camera, f/2.0 aperture and LED flash on the Tecno Spark 2. Up front, is an 8MP shooter, f/2.0 aperture with LED flash.

Tecno Spark 2 VS iTel A32F – Hardware and Software

The iTel A32F is powered by MediaTek MT6737 chipset, ARM Mali-T720 MP2 graphics processing unit and a Quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. While the Tecno Spark 2 is being powered by MediaTek MT6580 chipset, ARM Mali-400 MP2 graphics processing unit and a Quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. Apparently, the MediaTek MT6737 chipset on the iTel A32F is more powerful than the MT6580 chipset on the Tecno Spark 2. This is a big win for the iTel A32F in my opinion considering the price of both smartphones.

The MediaTek MT6737 has integrated LTE, AES (used to speed up decryption and encryption), supports 64-BIT and hardware-assisted virtualization. The iTel A32F and Tecno Spark 2 both runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) with 1GB memory. The iTel A32F comes with an 8GB storage while you get a 16GB storage on the Tecno Spark 2.

Tecno Spark 2 VS iTel A32F – The Price

The iTel A32F cost about $59 (N20,500) while the Tecno Spark 2 cost around $103 (N36,000). The Tecno Spark 2 is almost twice the price of the iTel A32F. The price gap is evident in the display, camera, internal storage and battery departments. The big win for the iTel A32F is in the hardware category, thanks to its MediaTek MT6737 chipset and ARM Mali-T720 MP2 graphics processing unit.
