The Google Pixel 2 (XL) shows upcoming appointments and the weather via a handy widget called ‘At a glance’. This tool now rolls out to all Android devices. We show you how to install the widget on your phone.
At a glance widget for all Android smartphones available
The ‘At a glance’ widget shows you at a glance what is planned. In addition to the next appointment, the current weather and the date are also displayed. The until recently exclusive Pixel 2 (XL) function is now available via the Google app for all Android devices.
This is how you install the widget on your smartphone:
- Sign up for the beta program from Google;
- Download the Google app in the Play Store (if you have not already done so);
- Go back to the home screen and keep it pressed, now choose ‘Widgets’;
- Scroll to Google and select “At a glance (Beta)”;
- Place the widget on a preferred screen.
As the name suggests, the widget is still under development. Thus the functionality is (still) limited. For example, you can not select which calendar is displayed. It can also take up to fifteen minutes for weather information to be displayed. Is this still not available after fifteen minutes? Check if your GPS is on.
This way you leave the beta program
If you no longer wish to participate in the beta program, simply navigate to the above link again and tap on ‘Abandon’. Can not you wait to use the full functionality of the widget? Then use the app ‘ Another Widget ‘.t3`
