Vivo V9 Plus VS Vivo V9 – what’re the differences? Vivo has launched a new smartphone in the Indonesia market called “the Vivo V9 6GB“. There’s no report on whether it will be available on other markets. The smartphone is another variant of the Vivo V9, which was launched sometime in March 2018. It’s actually more or less a plus version of Vivo V9. This won’t be the first variant smartphone of the Vivo V9. The Vivo V9 Youth was released in April 2018 as a stripped variant of the Vivo V9.

Like the name already suggests, the Vivo V9 6GB comes with a 6GB memory, which is an upgrade to the 4GB memory featured on the Vivo V9. Since the Vivo V9 Youth is a stripped variant of the Vivo V9, does that make the Vivo V9 6GB an upgrade to the Vivo V9? We already know in terms of memory, the Vivo V9 6GB is definitely an upgrade. Let’s compare the specs and features of the Vivo V9 6GB with the Vivo V9 to see if it’s truly an upgrade.

Just like the Vivo V9 Youth, Vivo didn’t change a thing in terms of the design of the Vivo V9 6GB. Both the Vivo V9 Youth and Vivo V9 6GB features the same design with the Vivo V9. The three smartphones feature a front glass with an aluminum unibody. Both the Vivo V9 and Vivo V9 6GB weighs the same 150 grams and measures 154.8 x 75 x 7.9 mm in dimensions.

The back features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor with a dual rear camera at top left corner vertically arranged. While the Vivo V9 is available in Gold, Black, and Sapphire Blue body colors. The Vivo V9 6GB is only available in Black and Red body colors. There’s no Gold color option for the Vivo V9 6GB.

Vivo V9 Plus VS Vivo V9 – The Display

The display is pretty the same on both smartphones. They feature a top-notch with a sizeable bottom chin. The screen technology used here is an IPS LCD panel, which measures 6.3 inches with an 85.3% screen-to-body ratio. The display packs a 19:9 aspect ratio, 1080 x 2280 pixels resolution and 400 pixels per inch density.

Vivo V9 Plus VS Vivo V9 – The Camera

Their camera specs are quite different from one another. The Vivo V9 packs a dual rear camera consisting of a 16MP primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, a 5MP secondary sensor, and dual-LED flash. Whereas, the Vivo V9 6GB packs a dual rear camera consisting of a 13MP primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a 2MP secondary sensor, and dual-LED flash.

Up front, the Vivo V9 takes pride in its 24MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture. While the Vivo V9 6GB is equipped with a 12MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The Vivo V9 6GB is actually a downgrade of the Vivo V9 in terms of camera specs. So we can’t generally call the Vivo V9 6GB an upgrade here.

Vivo V9 Plus VS Vivo V9 – Hardware and Software

Under the hood, the Vivo V9 6GB is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset with an Adreno 512 graphics processing unit. Whereas, the Vivo V9 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 chipset with an Adreno 506 graphics processing unit. The Snapdragon 660 chipset is definitely an upgrade to the Snapdragon 626 chipset.

Both Vivo’s smartphones run on Funtouch OS 4.0 skin overlaid on Android 8.1 Oreo. The Vivo V9 comes with a 4GB memory and 64GB internal storage. Whereas, the Vivo V9 6GB comes with a 6GB memory and 64GB internal storage. With the Snapdragon 660 chipset and 6GB memory featured on the Vivo V9 6GB, it’s definitely an upgrade to the Vivo V9.

Vivo V9 Plus VS Vivo V9 – The Battery

Both the Vivo V9 and Vivo V9 6GB packs a non-removable Li-lon 3260 mAh battery. There’s no indication of fast battery charging support on the two smartphones.

Vivo V9 Plus VS Vivo V9 – The Price

The Vivo V9 is presently selling at around $334 (N116,900). While the Vivo V9 6GB is available for around $351 (N122,850). If you’re a camera freak, then you should go for the new Vivo V9 6GB, which features better hardware and software.
