Welcome MediaTek Helio P90, Google Lens, ARCore Support

MediaTek, the very friendly component of Android phones has received a facelift less than two months after the introduction of Helio P70. It is called MediaTek Helio P90. Most importantly, it comes with better AI and faster CPU.

This SoC is also empowered by Google Lens and ARCore support, as well as a second generation of MediaTek APU which makes for more accurate AI. However, it is good to know that the new TSMC 12nm FinFET process will be on mobile phones from the first quarter of 2019.

Also, it is emphasized that the important updates are support for 480 fps slow motion videos (normal performance in Android phone videos is 30fps) and the triple ISP for RAW images and better AI shots in low-light conditions.

The GPU found in the Helio P90, IMG PowerVR GM9446 at 970 MHz that should bring 15 percent improvement over the Mali-G72 MP3, which is used in the Helio P60 and Helio P70 chipset.

This new platform makes it good for AR and MR acceleration but developers can introduce application using common frameworks such as Tensor Flow, TF Lite, Caffe, and Caffe2, based on MediaTek’s NeuroPilot SDK, the chipset is made possible by the partnership between Google and MediaTek.

Nothing has changed much about connectivity because category 12 down speed with 4×4 MIMO, dual 4G VoLTE, however Bluetooth evolved to 5.0. Meanwhile all Wi-Fi standards are compatible.

The new MediaTek will produce stunning images and amazing portraits in any light, and that means that some smartphones of low quality will not be able to afford it.

Notably, the new MdiaTek Helio P90 chipset will be able to support new super-sized 48 MP camera which capture images larger than 8K resolution at 30fps with zero percent delay.

Now, devices will be able to present the most powerful depth engine ever for smooth real-time bokeh previews, hardware image stabilization with the fastest and most effective noise reduction medium.

The production of this new chipset has already started with the first Helio P90 which is powered smartphones by 2019.
