Xiaomi Mi 6 vs Meizu Pro 7 – Comparison of performance and battery

Xiaomi was working on the Mi 6 for a long period of time. In the end both effort resulted in a great device with tons of innovative features along with a high level performance, which managed to satisfy the general public. The Xiaomi Mi 6 can be considered as one of the best Smartphones on the planet, since it is incredible in all the sections that comprise it, including its camera, performance, battery, software, special features and many more. In this regard, we must remember that this phone was also the first to incorporate a Snapdragon 835 in China. One of the rivals closest to it is the OnePlus 5, however, Xiaomi has always had an ace up his sleeve and that’s the excellent price and hardware ratio.

When talking about the most renowned Chinese companies we must remember Oppo, Vivo, Huawei and Meizu, as these are among the best manufacturers of smartphones. But Oppo R11, the current flagship of the company, barely incorporates a Snapdragon 660, which as we know, belongs to a lower category. Like the Vivo X9S that comes with a 655 Snapdragon processor. If we talk about Huawei, we will find that their phones have Kirin processors manufactured by the company itself.

As for Meizu, it is probably one of the easiest brands to compare with our protagonist. Recently, this manufacturer has released a pair of flagships, the famous Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus . The latter does not have many things in common with the Xiaomi Mi 6, so we decided to take the original Pro 7 to make a comparison between these 2 big Smartphones. Obviously we will take the most powerful version, which includes a MediaTek Helio X30. This comparison mainly refers to the performance, we will discuss other surprising features of both models later. Comparison Xiaomi Mi 6 vs Meizu Pro 7 – Performance

The Snapdragon 835 is currently considered the best chip in the world. Similarly, the most prominent smartphones incorporate this processor, so obviously not a coincidence. It is the first chip with 10nm process technology, and uses eight new Kryo 280 cores. The larger cores are registered at 2.45 GHz, while the smaller A53 cores come with a frequency of 1.9 GHz. This chip comes with an Adreno 540 GPU, Spectra 180 ISP and Hexagon 682 DSP.

As for the Meizu Pro 7 MediaTek Helio X30, it is important to note that it is the first Deca-Core processor running a 10nm process technology comes with a 2 x ARM Cortex-A73 + 4 x ARM Cortex-A53 + 4 x ARM Cortex-A35 architecture. The first two cores are clocked at 2.5GHz, the next four cores are running at a 2.2 GHz frequency, while the smaller cores are clocked at 1.9GHz. This SoC is paired with an Imagination PowerVR Series7XT Plus GPU with an 800 MHz clock, two 14-bit image signal processors and Imagiq Gen 2.0 DSP.

As expected, there are different versions of these smart phones. For the comparison, we have chosen the Xiaomi Mi 6, which has 6 GB RAM + 128 GB of storage, and on the part of Meizu we chose the Meizu Pro 7 with 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. If you want a thorough details of these two awesome devices, do not hesitate to search their names out on this blog.

Comparison Xiaomi Mi 6 vs Meizu Pro 7 – Benchmarks

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is equipped with the full version of Snapdragon 835, which means that its results should be quite close to the iPhone 7 Plus, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Nubia Z17.

Fortunately, it is so. In AnTuTu, the Mi 6 marks more than 170,000 points, while the Meizu Pro 7 gets just 140,000 points. But this is a general result, we’ll realize that the Helio X30 is not as bad as you might think. In addition, it is even capable of overcoming the Snapdragon 835 in some features. As you can see, the MediaTek Helio X30 performs in terms of 3D performance and RAM, but it is unreachable in terms of CPU, and lastly, it provides almost identical performance in terms of UX.

However, after using Basemark to compare the overall performance of Meizu Pro 7 and Xiaomi Mi 6. The benchmark showed incredible results. Let’s say the graphical performance of the SND835 is about twice as good as the Helio X30. In the other categories also an appreciable advantage on the part of the gem of Qualcomm is observed.

The Adreno 540 GPU is said to come with a number of improvements that affect overall performance. But the Helio X30’s IMG PowerVR 7XTP-MT4 graphics processor should not be that far away. To test the overall performance of 3D graphics as used on GFX Bench. Although the Meizu Pro 7 was restarted several times during the test before completion. The results indicate a clear winner, and is that the Meizu failed to live up to.

Both models are equipped with UFS flash memory chips. However, the MediaTek Helio X30 only supports single-channel read and write options. Although we must say that the overall performance is almost identical to that of SND835.

We are dealing with real flagships which should therefore not have problems with demanding 3D games. Let’s say that the Xiaomi Mi 6 with its Snapdragon 835 showed 60 fps when playing King of Glory, while the Meizu Pro 7 scored 49 fps.

Comparison Xiaomi Mi 6 vs Meizu Pro 7 – Temperatures

We know it’s easy to add more and more cores to improve performance. But there is a real and inevitable problem in doing this – raising the temperature. Control of temperature has always been one of the most serious problems in the design of chips, so many manufacturers have based their research on how to improve this aspect.

Obviously we could not miss the temperature test of both phones after running heavy games for a time of 30 minutes. The Mi 6 showed 39.4 degrees , while in the Meizu Pro 7 the result was 38 degrees.

As we can see, the difference is only 1.4 degrees, the Xiaomi Mi 6 gets warmer because the ceramic shell has a lower efficiency in the transmission of temperature than that of a metal body (in the case of Meizu Pro 7).

Comparison Xiaomi Mi 6 vs Meizu Pro 7 – Batteries

The Xiaomi Mi 6 incorporates a battery of 3350 mAh , while its competitor comes with a 3000 mAh battery capacity. On the other hand, both phones have almost identical diagonal displays. I mention this feature because the screens use more energy the bigger they are, so it’s a detail that is important to know.

At present, all flagship and mid-range smartphones must come with a quick-charging feature, as well as more efficient chargers and settings that help to reduce energy consumption. Fortunately, both phones have all three characteristics, yet they differ slightly from one another.

Firstly, the charger of the Xiaomi Mi 6 supports up to 18 W of charge. Its rival supports up to 24W. This is why it takes about  97 minutes to load the Meizu Pro 7 in its entirety, while the Mi 6 needs 108 minutes to reach 100%.

Then, about the discharge test, the Mi 6 is a little more durable than its competitor.

Comparison Xiaomi Mi 6 vs Meizu Pro 7 – Conclusion

This comparison between the Xiaomi Mi 6 and Meizu Pro 7 clearly demonstrates why the Chinese Apple is in a higher position than Meizu. I mean we have compared the best Smartphones of these companies, and as it has been seen, the Mi 6 surpasses its rival in practically all the tests.

This means that Xiaomi has more ambitions and a better methodology when making their devices. We can also say that this company knows how to combine the latest hardware and software to make a perfect phone. All this without neglecting the important economic factor that is so relevant today. In this sense, Meizu has some work to do. Still, we must say that the Meizu Pro 7 is a good initial attempt by the company to make innovations in a smartphone, so we will probably see consistent improvements in this company soon.
