Xiaomi Mi Pro HD In-Ear Headphones Review – The latest generation in sound

In the way that Xiaomi has been marked as the tech giant of China, we had the opportunity to know a great range of technological innovations that that Xiaomi has implemented on their most modern smartphones to smart sports bands. Today, continuing with this line of technological innovation we present the Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones, showing itself as the new line of headphones of this prestigious Asian company, among which we can also see the Xiaomi Mi Sports, the first wireless headphones from Xiaomi, as well as the Xiaomi Piston 3 Youth, hybrid headphones that, like the Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones have replaceable pads.

Today we will explore the different aspects and the most outstanding features of these headphones, which implement one of the latest technologies, this being the inclusion of graphene diaphragms in its construction which is called the material of the future due to its multiple potential applications, which it ensures excellent performance in the quality of sounds.

Let’s get to know the Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones, the latest technology in sound.

Pros

  • High quality sound
  • Compartment case included
  • Comfortable in ear

Cons

  • Low bass output

Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones – Unboxing

Again, as in the previous model, we are faced with a very simple way of packaging, quite minimalist as usual of Xiaomi. Inside the box, we found a small attractive plastic compartment in which the Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones is folded round inside a rubberized material and interchangeable pads or earbuds that come in sizes XS, S and L. The casings weighed just 17grams and angled at 45 degrees so that they fit comfortably. The design of this compartment clues us that these headphones are designed by 1More.

Then there is a small cardboard box where you have your small cloth bag, useful to transport the headphones comfortably.

Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones – Design and materials

As with the 1MORE brand hearing aids, Xiaomi has opted for design in which we will have a 45-degree arrangement of the audio output channel. This ensures us more comfort and adequate sound propagation. The two acoustic chambers, however, are produced from an alloy of aluminum and iron made with CNC technology of diamond cutting with an accuracy of 0.01 mm.

We found a CD type pattern on the back of the headphones.

As additional refinement (and here’s the first real difference with the previous model) the Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones receives a zircon stream, which not only increases strength, but also makes it smoother to look at and touch.

The outermost layer of the headphones receives an anodizing treatment to be even more resistant to scratches.

Other differences between the two models are the cable, which this time is totally TPE (a class of plastics very resistant to heat and deformation), and control buttons, which in this case are made of metal.

In addition to this, the built-in microphone and the 3.5 mm audio connector are gold coated, which is not a detail to increase the luxury, if not a way to increase the electrical conductivity, since gold is one of the metals that best conducts electricity.

Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones – Technical Specifications

We started by saying that the wired Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones owns the dual (in fact, hybrid) technology of the balanced induction conductors and the two magneto-dynamic conductors to achieve an optimal balance between frequencies. The frequency response range of 20Hz – 40,000Hz is quite good and should be able to translate into good audio performance.

The largest dynamic controller is responsible for the low frequencies, and the smallest is the handler of the higher frequencies. Therefore, the sound that comes out is the result of the combination of these three drivers; two dynamics, and a balanced armature driver.

As we mentioned earlier, one of the strongest points of the Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones is the inclusion of a graphene diaphragm, which can not only give more smoothness and details of the mid-low frequencies, but because of its flexibility, it also responds very well to higher frequencies, producing an unbeatable sound quality.

Not only is it a suitable material for the different acoustic frequencies, but it is also an excellent conductor, being able to transmit almost 100% of the electrical signals that pass through it, which guarantees the highest fidelity (hi-fi) sound.

Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones – Sound

One of the things that are clear about the sound of this device is its excellent sound quality. The low frequencies are substantial and well defined. High frequencies may have a weak distortion of sound at volume with some types of music (rock and metal of all).

For testing this piece of Mi In-Ear Headphones, we used a Gionee M6 and played different music from the Poweramp music app. We found out that the Mi In-Ear Headphones needed a bit of a burn-in before they started sounding good. When the bass is at its peak, we found it to be too mild. It seems these headphones are tuned to deliver mid and high sound while holding back on the bass.

These headphones are capable of shaping the sound to the best, thanks to an exceptional interaction with equalizers, with which we can obtain, at every opportunity, the type of sound we want.

The mid frequencies are reproduced in a discrete way that reflects a little, perhaps, by the drivers of attention dedicated to other frequencies; They could be improved, but they are only details. Regarding volume, it can be said that it is quite high, and although no technical data on the reduction of ambient noise has been found, it is more than satisfactory.

We found the vocals flawlessly clear, but at higher volumes, the highs could get a little fatiguing. It was also easier to distinguish between different instruments used in music. The wide frequency range these headphones can reproduce might also have contributed to this.

One of the best aspects of these headphones is its microphone for making calls or recording. You also have the volume that can be used to increase or decrease the amount of sound at will and the pause/play button all made of metal, thanks to its metallic design.

Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones – conclusions

Let’s recap – excellent performance, scratch resistance, heat and deformation resistant cable, triple conductor with hybrid technology, graphene diaphragm, excellent sound quality and a price that is still below € 20. Simply one of the best products of the many that Xiaomi has.

They are a great combination of incredible technologies, with a reproduction capacity far above the standard, being especially attractive if we evaluate products from the same price range.

Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones – Update needed?

In our humble opinion, focusing specifically on sound, these are superior to the previous models. However, the choice between one or the other depends mainly on two factors:

What kind of headphones do you prefer? With a more neutral equalization (Dual Hybrid) and therefore usable instantaneously, or with a (Pro HD Hybrid) which are more “malleable” due to its equalizer in control.

And the primary factor in choosing between both is the final price, being that the Dual Hybrid s cheaper than the Xiaomi Pro HD In-ear Hybrid Earphones, costing roughly half of the latter, although the Mi in-Ear can be found in reasonable offers. The choice is, therefore, purely subjective.
