Chinese company Zopo decided to surprise fans by offering Zopo 609, a smartphone that is not just a flagship, but also an excellent representative of the average price category. Zopo is actually trying to compete with smartphone companies like Xiaomi, Huawei, Meizu and others. That is evident with the announcement of Zopo 609 in the month of October 2018.
Although we can see that the Zopo 609 is not having much at the performance department, it is seen as an extremely interesting smartphone. In this review, we take a look at the salient features of Zopo 609.
Design and Display of Zopo 609
Primary design materials in the device are aluminum alloy and glass. Dimensions are 158.7 x 74.1 x 8.9 mm. The weight specification is still a bit sketchy. It is not water resistant. However, it comes with Bordeaux red, and blue. Display type in the smartphone is FHD+ IPS LCD in-cell capacitive touch screen.
The screen size is 6 inches. Furthermore, the smartphone has 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution. The pixel density is 402 ppi, screen to body ratio is 91 percent, and aspect ratio is 18:9. Zopo 609 comes with scratch resistant capabilities, and 2.5D curved glass screen. There is no secondary display in the device.
Camera Features
There is a rear dual camera setup of 13 MP plus 2 MP of super pixels. The video recording is FHD, able to work at 1080p@30fps. Furthermore, there are features such as auto focus, continuous shooting, digital zoom, exposure compensation, face detection, geo-tagging, face detection, HDR, Panorama, and others. Special feature include Sony IMX214 f/2.2 plus f/2.6 apertures.
For the front side, there is a single 8 MP pop-up selfie camera but no front flash. This comes with f/2.2 aperture as well as with a few other good features.
Hardware and Software Features of Zopo 609
Operating system that runs in Zopo 609 is Android 9 Pie with modified user interface. To assist in powering the device, there’s MediaTek Helio P23 MT6763T, process technology is 16nm. Also, there is CPU Octa-core 2.3 GHz 8-Cores, while the GPU is ARM Mali-G71 MP2 2-Cores. Zopo 609 lives on 64-bit architecture.
Storage Capacity
In the storage department, there is 4GB of RAM which is not expandable. However, the internal storage is 64GB that can be increased to 256GB of external storage with the use of a microSD card.
Zopo 609 Network and Connectivity
The Zopo 609 comes with 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE. In view of this, the device is able to work with GSM, WCDMA, HSDPA, and LTE connectivity. In addition to that, there are other components such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, hotspots, HDMI, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack, USB 2.0, and more. Yet, the device lacks infrared and NFC.
Battery Life
For backup, there is a 3330 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery of which we can’t specify the standby time, or talk time but we can confirm that is has fast charging technology. Nevertheless, there is no wireless charging on Zopo 609.
Price and Availability
The price of Zopo 609 is put around $150, which still makes this smartphone a cheap Android device. The device has been announced in the month of October 2018, with specifications fully laid out. However, it will not be released till sometime in February 2018.
