China-based ZTE was set to compete with the 2016 flagship devices of the top smartphone brands with the release of its 2016 flagship device the ZTE Axon 7. The device had many guessing its name, long before it popped with many logically predicting it would be named ZTE Axon 2. But against the usual naming convention, ZTE chose the Axon 7 for its flagship. Why 7, we wouldn’t know.

Body & Display

The phone comes with a 5.5-inch having a QHD AMOLED display with an 801 PPI display density with a  resolution power of 2160 x 3840 pixels. The device also sports a 2.5D glass as well as a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 fortification.

The Axon 7 features a fingerprint scanner mounted at the back, just underneath the camera as well as the USB Type-C connector.

ZTE ‘s Axon 7 will be fired up by a 3,250 mAh non-removable battery which has Quick Charge 3.0 for faster charging. Connectivity options include LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2 and GPS/support. Onboard sensors include Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.

The Axon 7 pops in an Aluminum unibody, but there’s the option of Ion Gold or Quartz Grey color variants, all of which look quite exquisite.

Sales of the excellent device start June 2 and is available exclusively via www.jd.com in China. The ZTE Axon 7 is priced at 2,899 yuan (US$ 442) for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version, 3,299 yuan (US$ 502) for the 4GB RAM with 128GB storage version and the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage variant is priced at 4099 yuan (US$ 625 / Rs. 41,850 approx.).

No words yet as to when the ZTE Axon 7 will ship to Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana or any other part of the world. However, the smartphone will sell for between N90,000 – N140,000 when available in Nigeria. The price will be determined by the storage variant you’re picking.
