A HEAD Request Checks Headers Without Downloading the Response Body

A command reports a successful response but displays no HTML. If it used the HEAD method, that absence may be exactly what was requested.

Know what the method asks for

MDN’s HEAD documentation describes a request for the headers associated with a GET response, without the response body. This can help inspect metadata, such as a reported content type, without retrieving the whole representation.

Do not overstate the check

A successful HEAD result does not show that the page’s scripts run, images decode or layout fits a phone. Those questions require other checks. Server behaviour can also vary, so investigate an unexpected difference between HEAD and GET rather than assuming both requests were identical.

In a support note, include the method as well as the status code. “HEAD returned 200” is more precise than “the whole website works”. Choose the smallest appropriate check for the question, then expand it when the symptom concerns actual page content or browser behaviour. The method is part of the evidence, not a detail to omit.
