Leagoo S9 is finally ready to launch at the 2018 Mobile World Congress and would be available in March. The iPhone X clone comes with a bezel-less display and a top-notch, just like the highly priced iPhone X from Apple. Furthermore, it sports dual rear camera that looks exactly like the cameras on the iPhone X.
Chinese company, Leagoo are known for releasing the most beautiful smartphones with affordable price tag. You would think from the name ‘S9’ the device would be a Galaxy S9 clone, but that’s not the case here. We’ve seen lots of iPhone X clones in the past four months, but can the Leagoo S9 be the real deal? Can the Leagoo S9 compete with Apple’s flagship in terms of performance? Lets find out.
Design
They really did took out time for the design, it sports an Aluminum alloy unibody that reflects light in the most beautiful way. There’s a rear fingerprint scanner at the back, which is obviously not on the real iPhone X.
There were initial rumours the Leagoo S9 would come with an in-display fingerprint scanner, but it looks like that didn’t happen. The phone looks slim as well, with the volume keys and power button by the sides. Its available in Silver, Black and Purple colors only, it’s still uncertain if Leagoo would roll out other colors soon.
Display
I have to give it to Leagoo, the S9 sure looks like the iPhone X from a distance. But the Leagoo logo on the bottom bezel will give it away. The top-notch was nicely made, with the other side of the screen reaching the extreme top. The notch also houses the selfie camera, ambient light sensor and front LED flash.
The selfie camera has a face detection technology, so you can easily unlock your phone by staring at it. The 5.85-inch HD+ IPS capacitive touchscreen boasts of 1080 x 2160 pixels in resolution and 403 pixel per inch density. Protecting the bezel-less screen is a Corning Gorilla Glass, as the screen got up to 78% screen to body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Under this beauty is a MediaTek MT6757 chipset with Octa-Core processor. The processor on the S9 reaches a clock speed of 1.5 GHz, for fast and smooth performance. In the graphics department, the Mali-T880 MP2 graphics processor is in charge.
It comes with 4GB RAM for smooth multitasking as well, 64GB internal storage to save your favorite games, apps and movies. The storage is upgradeable up to 256GB, using a memory card in the SIM 2 slot. The S9 runs smoothly on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with modified user interface.
Camera
The dual rear 13MP + 2MP rear camera on this baby comes with a dual-LED flash. The camera captures 4K resolution images in a single click, capturing photographs with 4128 x 3096 pixels in dimension. The 8MP selfie camera comes with a front LED flash for bright selfies in low light environment.
Battery
Powering the Leagoo S9 is a 3300mAh removable Li-Po battery with fast charging technology support. With the feature, you can easily charge up the device from 0% to 100% between 2-3 hours.
