The Oukitel Mix 2 can be safely said to be the end product of Oukitel’s imitation of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 smartphone. I guess it is the “Season of Mix” in the Chinese smartphone market. Right after Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Doogee followed Xiaomi’s lead and released the Doogee Mix and Doogee Mix 2 which were also similar in design and features to Xiaomi’s Mix 2.
Oukitel joined the bezel-less bandwagon with the Oukitel Mix 2 and truth be told, the device is stunning. Let’s see how it fares spec-wise under these headers.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
The Oukitel Mix 2 is something I love to call “a glowing beauty”. The glossy, super shiny rear explains it all. However, while the rear of the device may seem enticing and calling, it is one helluva fingerprint magnet, retaining finger prints and other prints and stains. Also, the glossy back poses the device to high risk or possibly of slipping off the hands. This may not be the best device for you if you have a sweaty hand.
But hey! You might be thinking a phone case or pouch pretty much solves that solution. Well, yes it does. But why ruin the beauty of this bezeless buddy with a smartphone case?
Let’s move on.
The Oukitel Mix 2 is a really big smartphone. A dimension of 158.7 x 75.1 x 8.8 mm and screen size of roughly 6.0 (5.99 inch on paper), the Oukitel Mix 2 qualifies to be called a phablet. Also sporting a full view display (or end-to-end display as some would call it), the device comes to rival other top bezel-less devices like the LG V30, and Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus.
The screen is a curved IPS LCD display and has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels as well as a high pixel density of 403 ppi. The high pixel density will ensure high colour reproduction and nice viewing angles. Despite the beautiful display quality, the Oukitel Mix 2 lacks a very important feature, the Corning Gorilla Glass protection. This exposes the device to easy breakage and shattering. However, you can purchase a genuine Glass screen protector to prevent such from happening.
PROCESSOR, OS AND STORAGE
The Oukitel Mix 2 runs on the Android v7.0 Nougat operating system and uses a Mediatek Helio P25 MT6757T chipset. The processor utilized on the Mix 2 is a Cortex A53 with 8 cores (Octa core) and runs at a speed of 2.5 GHz.
In terms of storage, a total of 6GB is available to store app info during usage i.e multitasking and the built-in memory for keeping storing media and other documents is 64 GB. You can purchase an external memory card to expand the storage to the region of 256 GB using the second SIM card slot.
CAMERA AND BATTERY
The Oukitel Mix 2 comes with dual camera on the rear; a main 16 megapixels lens and a supporting 2 megapixels shooter together with dual dual-tone LED flash light. Stunning! Great camera set-up, makes the Oukitel Mix 2 seem like an all-round phone. Does pretty well in all basic aspect of a smartphone.
On the front however, a single camera is embedded at the bottom-right corner and the quality is pegged at 16 megapixels. The front camera, like the rear, comes with a LED flash light.
Under the back cover, a non-removable battery with a capacity of 4,080 mAh. The battery is a Lithium-Polymer cell and it charge within minutes as the device support fast charging.
