The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has officially been launched by Xiaomi today in India. The device comes along with its brother Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, which i will be reviewing later today. There were rumours that the Redmi Note 5 was the same with the Redmi 5 Plus that was released in December 2017.
Well Xiaomi shut down the rumours today by releasing this bezel-less beauty. The device is already available on Shopping stores immediately, will you be getting one? Lets have a thorough review of the Redmi Note 5, shall we?
Design
Looks beautiful on the outside no doubt, the device’s body was made from Aluminum Alloy. To be honest, it sure looks like the Redmi 5 Plus from a distance. But trust me, the specs are really different, with the Redmi Note 5 having less bezels as well.

Ok so back to the body, the rear camera, LED flash and fingerprint scanner forms a vertical train in that order at the top middle, just below the antenna line. The power button and volume are by the side as usual, as it measures 8mm slim. Overall, the device weighs 180g, which is a little bit much probably because of the battery.
Display
From the front it also looks like the Redmi Note 5, which is totally weird. Nevertheless, the screen is pretty impressive and the details on the screen is crystal clear and sharp as well. The bezel-less trend is here to stay and we are loving it, Xiaomi got up to 77% screen to body ratio with Redmi Note 5.
The 5.99-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen boasts of 1080 x 2160 pixels in resolution. The pixel per inch density is also high with 403, for immense clarity and stunning details. The multi-touch screen is protected by a
2.5D curved glass, it has 1000:1 contrast ratio, 450 cd/m2, up to 84% NTSC and offers scratch resistant.
Hardware and Software
Behind the scene is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 MSM8953 chip with Octa-core processor. The processor reaches a clock speed of 2.0GHz, for a fast and smooth performance. The graphics processing unit is the Qualcomm Adreno 506 processor with 14nm process technology.
In terms of RAM space, there are two versions available, one with 4GB RAM and a much cheaper variant with 3GB. Both RAM space reaches a memory speed of 933MHz. Same with the internal storage, there’s one with 64GB while the other comes with 32GB. Both are upgradeable up to 128GB using a memory card in the sim 2 slot. The Redmi Note 5 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with MIUI V9.7.9 user interface.
Camera
The 12MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture comes with a dual-LED flash that helps take 4K resolution images. Images taken with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 boasts of 4000 x 3000 pixels in dimension. The camera comes with so many features like autofocus, gesture shot, phase detection, omnivision OV12A10, CMOS sensor, 1.24um pixel size among others. At the top bezel, the 5MP selfie camera comes with f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, a pixel size of 1.25μm and PDAF Focus.
Battery
Powering the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is a 4000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery, with fast battery charging feature. Even with the fast charging technology, it should take more than 2 hours to charge the phone from 0% to 100%.

Redmi note 4 has better specification than this one with lower price.
Well, it’s Unfortunately, this series will not replace the popular Note 4 model in any way. For the many reasons most have said. I’m sorry for Xiaomi Inc . i’m very disapointed.
