You believe dating and hook ups should be all about the beauty and the glam alone, well, Sapio disagrees. Sapio, obtained from the word “Sapiosexual” (finding connection in intellect), believes two people can also be brought by brains too, not beauty alone.
Sapio is here to bring about a whole new perspective of how dating apps could and should be. Sapio is however an app where physical and intellectual attraction are put on an equal level. Calling itself “a dating app with depth”, it wants to gives users “a fast and fun way to evaluate potential matches on both brains and looks.”
A personality to connect with is what makes a relationship great. Start by answering questions to tell your story. Every person has something to say. It’s an “about me” section with real meaning.
Sapio attempts to pair single people with like mind in a the simplest way possible while taking intellects into consideration. Characters shared between users of the app like interest, intelligence levels, and conversation ability are used as basis for pairing.
According to Kristin Tynski, Sapio’s co-founder:
Sapiosexuals can’t be simply defined as people who are only attracted to the highly intelligent. They’re attracted to someone based on a matching level of intelligence, interests, conversation, drive, sense of humor. For many, defining oneself as sapiosexual has become statement against the current status quo of hookup culture and superficiality, where looks are prized above all else.
To match users, the dating app starts by requesting answers/opinions to up to 300 open-ended questions, which can be found in its “question explorer” section.
Did you just scream “300 questions”? Yeah I know, that’s quite a lot to answer. But hey! Who knows? Something (or should I say someone) nice could come out of it in the end.
Once the questions have been well and fully answered, Sapio then sets off to find you matches based on similar interests, intellect, and personality types.
Once you find someone you’re interested in, a familiar “swipe-to-like” interface which allows you to express interest in the person appears. If it’s mutual – if he/she also wanna know you – Sapio unlocks a chat room for you two to continue the conversation.
Like most dating apps, you will have access to photos, filtering tools, and other features. I believe that at its best, Sapio will certainly link up some individuals with like-mind.
