Tecno Camon I VS Tecno Camon X – Tecno Mobile best Camon smartphones. Chinese OEM company Tecno Mobile have released the latest smartphone in their popular Camon series; the Tecno Camon X and Camon X Pro. The Tecno Camon X is a stripped version of the Camon X Pro. If you’re a follower of the Camon series, you’ll know it’s all about camera quality. Tecno had released “the Tecno Camon i” earlier this year before the Camon X. While the Camon X was launched majorly in Nigeria and other African countries. The Tecno Camon i was launched in India for the Indian market, which is why its 4G network only supports Indian bands. While the Tecno Camon X has global 4G network support.

Which one of these Camon smartphones is Tecno best release for the first quarter of 2018? We can’t just pick one without first considering their specifications and features.

Tecno Camon I VS Tecno Camon X – The Design

In my personal opinion, the Tecno Camon X has the best design in the Camon series. The phone features a nice bezel-less display with front glass. Instead of metal, the Camon X comes with a polycarbonate unibody. While the Camon I comes with a front glass and metallic unibody. The Tecno Camon X sizes up to 158.60 x 75.80 x 7.80 mm in dimensions. While the Tecno Camon i measure up to 152.2 x 71.1 x 7.70 mm in dimensions. Tecno Camon X is very light when handled as it weighs just 148 grams. While the Tecno Camon i weighs 172 grams, which is pretty heavy if you ask me.

The fingerprint sensor is rear mounted on both the Camon X and Camon I, below the sensor is the Tecno brand name. They both have a single rear camera setup with LED flash at the top left corner. The rear camera and LED flash of the Camon X are placed in a vertical position. While that of the Camon X is placed in a horizontal position. The Tecno Camon I is available in three body colors; Midnight Black, Champagne Gold, and City Blue. While the Camon X is available in the same body colors of Midnight Black, Champagne Gold, and City Blue.

Tecno Camon I VS Tecno Camon X – The Display

The Tecno Camon I comes with a 5.65 inch IPS LCD touchscreen. The phone has little top and bottom bezels with a 76.13% screen-to-body ratio. The display has a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels with 285 PPI density. Protecting the display of the Tecno Camon I is Corning gorilla glass 3, which isn’t bad for a budget smartphone.

While the Tecno Camon X’s display isn’t protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, instead the phone comes with a 2.5D glass. The Tecno Camon X features a 6.0 inch IPS LCD touchscreen and 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone has the same display resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels with the Camon I. While having a 275 pixels per inch density. I would say the Corning gorilla glass in the Camon I made it stand out from the Camon X here.

Tecno Camon I VS Tecno Camon X – The Camera

This is where the Camon series smartphones are built to excel. Both the Camon X and Camon I comes with a single rear camera with LED flash and also a front camera with LED flash. The Camon I sports a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera with features such as Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Touch to focus, Continuous shooting, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR), Panorama and Quad-LED flash. At front camera of the Camon i is a 13MP shooter with LED flash.

The Tecno Camon X has the better camera quality between the two phones. It sports a 16MP rear camera with Quad-LED flash and features such as Phase detection autofocus, Geo-tagging, Touch focus, Face detection, Auto-HDR, and Panorama. At the front camera is a 20MP sensor with dual adjustable flash.

Tecno Camon I VS Tecno Camon X – Hardware and Software

Powering the Tecno Camon I is MediaTek MT6737 chipset with 4-cores clocked at 1.3GHz. The graphics is powered by Mali-T720 MP2 graphics processing unit. The Camon I comes with a 3GB memory and 32GB internal storage. The Android 7.0 Nougat software runs on the Tecno Camon I.

The MediaTek Helio P23 chipset with 8-cores clocked at 2.0GHz powers the Tecno Camon X. For graphics, the phone comes with Mali GPU graphics processing unit. Unlike the Camon I that comes with a 32GB internal storage, the Camon X comes with a reduced 16GB storage and 3GB memory. The Tecno Camon X runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (with HiOS).

Tecno Camon I VS Tecno Camon X – The Battery

The Tecno Camon I packs a non-removable 3050 mAh battery with no fast battery charging technology. While the Tecno Camon X comes with a non-removable 3750 mAh battery and supports fast battery charging.

Tecno Camon I VS Tecno Camon X – The Price

The Tecno Camon I goes for around $135 (N47,250). While the Tecno Camon X cost around $168 (N59,000). The only downside of the Camon X to the Camon I is the reduced internal storage. Aside from that, the Camon X has better camera quality, hardware, software and battery life to the Camon I.
