99 Percent of Data Protected, Insured – FG Assures Nigerians

As the issue of NIN registrations and attachment to bank accounts heightens, Nigerians are also thinking about the safety of their personal information. Meanwhile, the Federal Government this week boasted that at least 99 percent of the data of all citizens are well protected and insured. FG did this to assure Nigerians of the safety of their private data.

The information was vital and timely since it was made on the World Privacy Day, which is celebrated worldwide annually. It was said that the assurance was given when suspected hackers arrived and tried to interrupt the forum, and disruptive voices were heard for a few minutes during the ongoing program. The organizers calmed invitees, and explained the reasons for the brief disturbance.

At the event, Nigerians were made to understand that whether their data is with NIMC or with regards to any digital registrations, or even those with telecoms companies, any data under Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) custody have not witnessed any challenges or breach. No Nigerian can come forward to complain in regards to their data privacy or protection.

Nigerians should believe that their data is safe 99 percent if not 100 percent, and that privacy is ensured. The spokesman at the event said that Nigeria is doing better when compared with many other developed countries of the world.

He said that he was just using the occasion to assure Nigeria that with the present administration in place, citizens’ data are well protected. He also assured the country’s international partners and other citizens residing in Nigeria that they should have peace of mind because their data is protected.
