As the end of August drew to a close, Alcatel 1 was released into the smartphone market. When it came out, there were not a lot of reviews about the phone, probably because reviewers thought the phone is devoid of pro features. It comes with many moderate features but for it to win, it needed some salient features that modern day smartphone users love.
Design and Display
Here is a phone that comes with plastic body. It is thick, and as such puts some people off. However, it is a lightweight phone at 134 grams including the weight of the battery. Dimensions in this device are 5.42 x 2.59 x 0.39 inches. Further, it comes with black, gold, and blue colors.
Display size is 5.0 inches of LCD capacitive touch screen which comes with 16 million colors. Alcatel 1 comes without a secondary display. The screen resolution is 480 x 960 pixels, pixel density is 215 PPI, and the screen to body ratio is 71.24 percent.
Camera Features
Two cameras were designed for the mobile phone and one is situated to the front while the other is placed to the rear. The rear camera, which is the main, is 5 MP which comes with LED flash option. This phone can successfully handle video calling, and video sharing very effectively.
The front camera is 2 MP and like the rear camera, it comes with amazing features as well. There is also a capability for video recording of 1920 x 1080 full HD.
Hardware & Software
For hardware and performance, there is the MediaTek MT6739 system chipset. Accomplish a good work, there is CPU Quad core ARM Cortex A53, 28nm process technology and 64-bit architecture. The GPU is PowerVR GE8100.
Storage Capacity and Sensors
To store files, music, and apps, the user has 1GB of RAM that cannot be expanded. However, the internal storage of 8GB can be increased up to 32GB with the use of a microSD card. As far as things go here, the operating system is Android v8.0 Oreo on a modified user interface.
There is a sensor found here and it is called proximity sensor.
Network and Connectivity
The network is good and complete as we don’t expect 5G in the Alcatel 1. Here are GSM, UMTS, and LTE. All these bands allow for different types of browsing speeds with LTE or 4G taking the lead. Too bad, there is only one SIM provided for this phone usage. Yes, only one nano SIM can work inside the Alcatel 1 smartphone.
Furthermore for connectivity, there is Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, GPS, A-GPS, and other features. However, you would no see infrared, HDMI, or NFC in this phone.
Battery Life
Powering the Alcatel 1 is a 2000 mAh battery, which if it is on 4G, has talk time of up to 8 hours, but 11 hours on 3G. Standby time on 4G is about 8 days. There’s no wireless charging capability or fast charging option in Alcatel 1.
Price and Availability
Currently, the official pricing of the Alcatel is $80 USD. This phone is not that popular as it should be to make it a household name. However, one can still find it in shopping stores.
