Galaxy S21 – this is the big reason to change the Galaxy S20!

Samsung has given great prominence to the Exynos 2100 chipset and in fact, has good reason to do so. Is that the latest processor has major improvements in performance and power management. This compared to the Exynos 990. As a matter of fact, the reference values illustrate this very well, as mentioned by the Sammobile. This is in fact the big reason if you want to exchange the Galaxy S20 for the Galaxy S21.

In this regard, a YouTuber, called Golden Reviewer, revealed test values for all the top smartphone processors in 2024 and 2021. These figures reveal the performance and energy efficiency of the processors.

The M5 and Cortex-A76 cores of the Exynos 990 won 30.95 points and 21.54 points, respectively. In comparison, the Cortex-X1 and Cortex-A78 cores of the Exynos 2100 scored 39.61 and 35.71 points, respectively. It is a huge performance improvement over the Exynos 990.

In terms of energy efficiency, the main and medium cores of the Exynos 990 received 8.09 and 13.02 performance points per watt. In the case of the Exynos 2100, they were entitled to 12.38 and 14.46 points per watt, which is also a massive improvement.

Thus, Samsung was able to really improve the performance as well as the energy efficiency of the Exynos 2100 compared to the Exynos 990. This is the reason why smartphones in the Galaxy S21 range offer better performance and longer battery life compared to devices in the Galaxy S20 range.

However, the Exynos 2100 is still not as good as the latest Snapdragon processor.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 has slightly better performance and energy efficiency compared to the Exynos 2100. Samsung’s latest flagship processor is better than the Snapdragon 865+ and Kirin 9000, but slightly slower than the Snapdragon 888.

In terms of graphics, the Snapdragon 888 is better than the Exynos 2100. However, for the record, the Exynos 2100 chipset does not seem to be as hot compared to the Snapdragon 888. A video published on YouTube by PBK Reviews shows the Exynos and Snapdragon versions of the Galaxy S21 running several tests and the respective temperatures.

ARM’s graphics are known to be less powerful and power-efficient than Qualcomm’s Adreno, so Samsung is planning to bring graphics from AMD to its next Exynos processor.

Anyway, there is great news for those who bought the Galaxy S21 in Europe this year. You will not notice any major differences for the American version as noted in the S20.
