Hearthstone Gets Up To 100 Million Registered Players

Blizzard Entertainment has reportedly claimed that its digital collectible card game now has more than 100 million players registered and playing the game. It is just four years since the game debuted on PC and mobile devices.

In the beginning, Hearthstone was a passion project that almost no one took seriously. The game first took characters from Warcraft game and put them into a digital collectible card game at a time when most video game players were not aware of such games.

Today, games like that are worth $1.5 billion. This is according to a market research finding from SuperData. Now Hearthstone reigns supreme on this level.

According to J. Allen, the president of Blizzard Entertainment, reaching 100 million players is a huge milestone for Hearthstone. However, what matters more to the team is the fact that so many people around the world have embraced the spirit of Hearthstone.

It doesn’t matter where, he said, people are ever so eager to play the game. They are often so eager to come together, online and in the real world, to participate in the Hearthstone community.

Allen attribute the success of the game to the ease in learning the rope and complication of being able to master it. Builders make digital card decks and duel each other head to head, in a draft mode, or they take on solo adventures, all in the name of seeking different thrills.

Furthermore, the game has both charm and accessibility. Add to that its consistency on media platforms like Twitch and Youtube. Also, the audio and visual elements makes it to appeal more to wider audiences

Recently, Blizzard overhauled player experience for the game, doing this for newcomers as a buffer between new and old players. At Blizzcon, it even announced the next expansion for Hearthstone.

Nowadays, there are many ways to enjoy the game. The Fireside Gathering, Innkeepers, restaurant gatherings, bars, community centers, and more have been places where people enjoy the Hearthstone game without letup.

On November 7, Blizzard will commemorate Hearthstone’s 100 million player milestone by holding a special in-game thank you event. It will start on the 7th to 11 November 2018.
