Amidst all the controversy currently going on between Huawei, Google, and the US, Google has removed the Huawei Mate 20 Pro from the Android Q Beta page. For now, it isn’t clear whether the phone was removed by Google from the extensive roster before or after it granted Huawei a temporary license which lets it continue doing business with key US partners and suppliers for a period of three months.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro

This latest move by Google goes on to add to the uncertainty which Huawei phones have concerning major future updates. Chances of the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro getting released in the fall with some sort of a homebrewed OS pre-installed keeps increasing. Huawei is especially adamant that their own OS will come with support for Android apps just like Samsung’s Tizen and Linux’s Sailfish OS.

Even with all that has happened, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro developer page for the update is still up and running. According to Google, services like Google Play will continue to function on Huawei phones. This could probably be as a result of Huawei having their priorities elsewhere. Although, we hope that Huawei comes up with some sort of workaround for this issue.

The more we hear from Huawei, the more optimism we feel concerning the future of the company. According to a recent report, in preparations to trade war uncertainties, Huawei has already stockpiled crucial components for up to 12 months. Add to that the upcoming Huawei OS, and we’re left with one of the most oddly exciting years in technology so far.
