iPhone X vs. iPhone 8 – comparison and prices with us

Apple has introduced up to three new iPhones this year – iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X. However, no model has been rejected by the offer and is, therefore, bigger today than ever. We provide a brief overview of the specifications of new phones and their prices in different countries.

The number of iPhones in the offer has plummeted over the past few years, and Apple sells up to eight iPhone models across four generations today. And forget the need for different capacities and colour designs.

Portfolio starts on the available iPhone SE and the older iPhone 6s / 6s Plus, it goes through last year’s iPhone 7/7 Plus, this year’s iPhone 8/8 Plus and a new flagship in the form of a premium iPhone X. But we will see it at the beginning of November for a high amount. Will it be worthwhile? What are the differences between the new generations and their predecessors?

Which model to choose?

The iPhone 8 (4.7 “display) and iPhone 8 Plus (5.5″ display) bring new features that include support for wireless charging technology, ultra-fast A11 Bionic chip, improved 12-megapixel camera, True Tone display and new colour schemes. The Plus model also offers an enhanced Portrait mode with new lighting simulations.

Even though Apple puts it as an integer, it is more of an upgrade than last year’s iPhone 7. The iPhone 8 is a well-equipped phone with new technologies, but far from being the top model in the company’s offer. This place belongs to the radical iPhone X.

The advantage that 8 has over the X is especially price and affordability. The iPhone 8 will be on sale on September 29th, X will wait until early November. It also offers a Touch ID sensor and a Home button that can (and may not) be better than Face ID. Here we will have to wait for the first reviews. Prices in Europe will be as follows:

  • iPhone 8 64 GB for 799 euros
  • iPhone 8 256 GB for 969 euros
  • iPhone 8 Plus 64GB for 909 euros
  • iPhone 8 Plus 256 GB for 1 079 euros

For comparison, the iPhone 7 comes with a number of features, but it is missing the latest CPU and wireless charging. It is sold for 629 euros for the 32 GB model and  739 euros for the 128 GB model. iPhone 7 Plus is available for 769 euros for 32 GB and  879 euros for 128 GB.

iPhone X

The new top model, which has all the eyes of Apple fans. It offers a radical 5.8″ OLED display with HDR technology and better contrast covering the entire front of the device. It misses the Home button and Touch ID replaced by face-scanning under the name Face ID. Also, it is almost identical with the iPhone 8 Plus.

It contains the same processor, cameras and memory. The only differences are optical stabilisation for both dual camera lenses, a better lens for telephoto lenses, and the ability to use Portrait Mode with the front camera. Stay up for Animoji, which is exclusive to iPhone X.

Compared to previous iPhones, the iPhone X has a whole new dimension. The size falls just above the regular 4.7″ model and is much smaller than the big Plus model. It offers an even larger 5.8 “display. It’s also a bit thicker than the two-octave models. You can see a comparison of dimensions and weights between models, including the Plus, below.

iPhone X vs iPhone 8

The iPhone X will be on the market until November 3 and will stand at a record high of 1,149 euros for the 64GB model and  1,319 euros for the 256GB model. If you want to have the best and most advanced Apple offers, you will need to go for the X version. However, as soon as we do not see the first device reviews, we do not know how reliable the new Face ID will be and also an entirely new control without a Home button that relies on hand gestures.

All prices listed are taken from the German Apple Store. In our country, prices should be very similar.
