Samsung Display stays atop the global market with its OLED displays in Q1 2024

Samsung display has held on to its position at the top of the global smartphone display market. Strategy Analytics has revealed that through the entire Q1 of 2020, Samsung Display has led the global market for smartphone displays.

The report reveals that the market has seen a 3 percent year on year increase in the overall revenue generated. One thing to note is that during the first quarter, the market saw a total of 9 billion USD generated in revenue. Also, according to the report, Samsung OLED panels have been the most in demand while demand for LCD panels has dropped resulting in oversupply.

Samsung Display, which happens to be the largest supplier of Samsung OLED panels in the world has continued to grow thanks to the increased demand for OLED panels for smartphones. With this, the South Korean company was able to capitalize on the market. As a result, Samsung Display has accounted for over 52 percent of the smartphone screen market around the world.

Right behind Samsung Electronics on the list are BOE Technology and Tianma Microelectronics. This report provides more evidence of how LCD panels are gradually becoming obsolete. Even Samsung Display has finally stopped producing LCD panels and has put more effort into making diverse variants of OLED technology while making improvements and further developments.
