Samsung has announced the launch of a new version of its highly successful Gear Fit smartwatch/Band. The announcement, which was made at an event in New York City, apart from the Samsung Gear Fit 2, also saw the unveiling of the leading brand’s first pair of fully wireless earbuds called the Gear IconX.

Price & Features of the Samsung Gear Fit 2
The latest version of the Gear Feat wristband – adopting the name Samsung Gear Fit 2, uses a display design similar to the first generation version. The display features a 1.55-inch 216×432 Super AMOLED screen. The fitness device is powered by a dual-core 1.0 GHz dual-core Exynos 3250 processor. The wearable device also holds 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage in its arsenal.
The Samsung Gear Fit 2, which weighs 30g and runs Tizen operating system, also packs a 200mAh battery that will last up to 3 days of use or 54 days of standby time.
Other specifications of the Samsung Gear Fit 2 include an optical heart-rate sensor, GPS connectivity for tracking your outdoor activities without carrying a phone, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and IP68 immersion certification for water and dust resistance. Pre-orders are already been accepted for the Samsung Gear Fit 2 which will be officially up for sale on June 10 for a retail price of $180 which is about N40,000 when the device becomes available in Nigeria.
The Samsung Gear IconX
Samsung also showcased its iconic Gear IconX device which is a truly wireless earbuds that don’t have any wires at all. The Gear IconX will work as a standard pair of Bluetooth headphones which also pops with 4GB of on-board storage.
The Samsung gear IconX equally features touchless controls for navigating through your playlist as well as some fitness tracking abilities that will sync with Samsung Health (S Health).
They wireless ear buds are going to last about 3.5 hours when listening to stored music, or 1.5 hours of streaming Bluetooth audio.
Both of the tiny ear buds are inserted into a capsule to be charged and each full charge of the charging capsule can deliver full charges to the ear buds twice. Though the battery doesn’t last very long on the Gear IconX’s, it’s a tradeoff to enjoy truly wireless Bluetooth ear buds.
The Gear IconX, however, has no pricing information available yet and will be released sometime in Q3 of this year.
