Sony’s hand-turned handheld console PlayStation Vita is now officially at the end of its life. As you know, Sony recently announced that PS Vita production would be stopped gradually. Now the first step has been taken, and the distribution process of the console in Japan is officially over.
PS Vita was finally selling two different models- PCH-2000 ZA11 (PS Vita Black) and PCH-2000 ZA23 (PS Vita Aqua Blue). Sony’s official website in Japan is currently using the terms “distribution ended” for these two products. Japan was the region where PS Vita made the most sales. In the coming periods, distribution is expected in other regions.
In 2011, Sony released PlayStation Vita. After the great success of PSP, the console, which was put on the market with great excitement and expectation, was almost dead and became one of Sony’s biggest dream breaks in recent years.
Although the official sales figures are not announced, it is estimated that the console sells only between 10-15 million units worldwide. PS Vita’s biggest rival, Nintendo 3DS, sold 75 million units. In addition, Sony’s previous handheld console PSP sold 82 million units.
